Am I the only one GLAD I...[spoiler]

edited November 2012 in The Walking Dead
Didn't have to take Kenny with me? I keep seeing all these people like omg how do u bring him, and yeah. Why? The guy literally goes "Well, I dunno, it's not like you have MY back". Oh, sorry Kenny - I wasn't aware that the correct response to "some creep took my daughter is" "WELL IT SERVES YOU RIGHT FOR NOT ALWAYS HELPING ME".

Seriously, I JUMPED on the x button (which was "Go fuck yourself, Kenny" for me) when I saw that option. I don't want that broken down dipshit anywhere NEAR my team when everything goes down.

I really hope Molly reenters in the next chapter. Should be fun. But Kenny? If I get the choice of taking him out next on top of this, that'll just be the icing on the cake.

    Because. Strength in number man.
Or at least Walker bait to serve as distractions.
How many people came with you?

I took him. I never really liked him but I need more people to help protect me. If he dies along the way I could care less.

Kenny stayed back on mine, but I'm glad hes going to get the boat working and ready to take off.

It's a sound plan that way, Group A searches for Clementine, Kenny gets escape route ready.

I'm still mad at Kenny though, how it went down him saying I never had his back.... Jerk.

People wanted him to come because he's proven himself capable many times before, He has also proven himself unstable however, so I was happy he didn't come, I want Ben more than him anyway.

    Ben.. The loathsome kid...
who constantly fucks up and puts the group in danger?
Not once or twice but a plethora of times?

Seems like you're setting yourself up for failure with him by your side.

I didn't tell him to come, I said it's his call. He wanted to come, I won't stop him. He's an idiot, yes, but he's not a bad person. Besides, cannon fodder is always fun.

As for Kenny proving himself capable... When? He can use boats. That's about it. Other than that, what about the scene in the St. Johns? If you don't side with him on killing Larry, he flat out _refuses_ to help you when you're fighting the... first brother. I forget his name, but yeah. I can't be having that kind of assholish thought process in my group.

Literally, what it came down to for me, was when I got rid of Lily finally I was like "Yes. One down.". I liked Kenny in ep 1. I was iffy in 2 but agreed with him mostly still. In 3 he started irritating me but I felt bad for the whole losing his family thing so I went his way again. In 4, finally, I felt bad but when he pulled that... No. Get out of my way.

Even if Kenny was an asshole in your playthrough (cause he wasn't in mine) He is still more useful then dumbass Ben

Ditto. Ben was jumping at the chance to join in, but I was just thinking "the guy who's just forever fucking shit up, no way". Kenny may not have the best record when it comes to crapulent situations, but atleast he doesn't cause them.

I also figured I should leave somebody with the boat, since atleast Molly knows we have one and I don't exactly trust her.

He was an asshole to me and sometimes we didn't see eye to eye but in the end he was still my best friend in the apocalypse.

I also didn't take Kenny. When he started whining that Lee hasn't been helping him lately (even though he saved his life at the beginning of the episode), I thought that it may be better if he stays with his boat. Kenny is the most conflicting character in the team. He constantly argues with everyone: Lee, Ben, Christa, Omid, Chuck and Molly. He also abandoned Lee twice so far. From time to time he does something useful, but overall I think that the group may be more cohesive without him.

I keep thinking that this is what telltale wants you to think and feel. I bet he will be a saving factor in the end. I bet he will sacrifice himself much the way chuck did for the good of the group.

    watch..

Kenny's never abandoned me, we're best friends. I never even had to ask if he would come, he volunteered. He's proven himself more than anyone else in the group right now, but he's also the least stable. I'm glad he has my back, because I know that I can trust him. He's probably going to die in Episode 5 anyways, and since Lee is a goner as well I'm glad that my Lee won't be dying alone.

I wouldn't say I'm glad, i know him not being there will matter, I wonder who'll die...stay close, Ben.

Good luck getting the hell outta there without a Boat, since Kenny will probably take it

False. Kenny always abandons Lee atleast once; when saving Duck from the tractor he leaves both you and Shawn there. :p

Really? Well i don't think Lee needed saving there, so he didn't abandon him. Plus he wanted to get his son out of there, I would do the same thing

Kenny is a survivor and he's by-far the most useful member of the group, excluding him out of spite simply means you're going to end up with incompetents who are more likely to get your ass killed before saving Clementine.

It also helps that he's Lee's best bud in my playthrough :p. His reaction to showing the bite made me sad face and when he told me he'd be there for me--especially then--it made my crying worse.

    This really.

I dunno, I always liked him, I think, and thought he was Lee's closest friend out of the group. But he seemed to be really petty and seemed to constantly dwell on seemingly minor mistakes I made, despite me siding with him on all of the really important things.

But now, fuck him, I mean really. This shouldn't be about their relationship at all, it's about Clem.

There are at least two situations where Kenny abandons Lee.

One, in the barn tackling Danny (if you didn't help him murder Larry).

Two, in the drugstore- Lee is trapped under a door and Kenny just stands there.

Kenny only has Kenny's back. I'm actually glad that he said that line "I'm a christian man", cause I'd never trust a religious son of a bitch in RL or in the game.

    Kenny is dead to me.

After all the shit i have done for him, he abandons not only me but also Clem? What does he have to live for anyway?
i was always there for him and his family. But trying to do cpr on Larry and trying to get everyone together and alive made him into a whiny bitch.

    what a immense hypocrite....

He abandoned Shawn for his own son. Lee didn't need help in the slightest, and then he saved me in the drug store (in both episodes 1 and 3), so I really owe him. And what better way than to repay him than have him go out, guns blazing, on a hopeless suicide mission?

Leave Kenny alone. He still lost his wife and kid...
  • edited November 2012
I accidentally managed to get him to come with me. At that point I went back, replayed the scene and told him to fuck off. He's a liability, can't be relied on and is verging on potentially dangerous.

Kenny is far more useful than Ben, no matter what the circumstance. Even non loyal Kenny is calm under pressure and has killed walkers which is more than can be said for Ben. And loyal Kenny is just a badass :D

That's what I can't stop thinking whenever I hear his bro speech at the end of Episode 4. Especially if you hide the bite, say you'll go alone, and Christa and Omid stay behind. That, in my opinion, is Kenny's finest moment as a human being. His "only" moment as a human being, some might argue, but giving the boat to Christa and Omid just defies all logic for the selfish Kenny that people describe.

Telling Kenny to fuck off was one of the most satisfying choices I made in the game. The guy has my sympathy for Duck and Kat but he is a prick.

If it IS Lee's time to die soon, I wouldn't waste it spouting bullshit with Kenny. I got him to come with me in my save. He has to help find Clem.

Given the choice between someone who might fuck up accidentally and someone I suspect will fuck up deliberately, I'll take the former. That's why I took Ben and not Kenny
  • edited November 2012
What choices do you think you have to make to make Kenny agree to come with you without even asking? Because I helped kill Larry and talked him into stopping the train. I helped save Duck too but I think when Larry wanted to kick him out I might've said reason with him or something.

My group is Kenny, Christa, Omid. I would prefer the latter two stay and watch the boat but that's not an option :p

Excellent point. I took Kenny with me but with the way he has acted toward my Lee I still dont know if I can trust him.

I just have a feeling in my gut that you will get the option to put Kenny down but just like Larry and Ben people will find it hard to do.
