Telltale Please Make The Choices Matter A LOT More in Epi 5!
Ok so you can argue and complain that the choices do matter, but lets be honest they dont. The only two that have come to mind are the choice btw carly and doug and who your taking with you to find Clem... (honestly only the latter choice as carly/doug die at the same time)
However I THINK they mentioned it in a walking dead BUT tt- to make this series that much better I and everyone else would love to see either multiple endings or a lot more choices that PERSONALIZE the gaming experience. No more BS, for example Ben will almost definetly die next episode. Why? Because for those that chose to kill him (drop him), they need to equalize the story. This is the only moment when the story will be hypothetically over (I know theres another season but that could be nd likely is completely different ) so make different endings, make choices mid episode that will completely alter how the game and story concludes.
Dont get me wrong I LAAAAAHHHVVVEE this game, and I personally dont care if they dont make different choices because I like to play it for the story in general but i think it will make it that much better to really go all out for this episode. I mean I know the episode is probably close to done by now, but I just hope their are a lot more different choices this episode.

Acrually nt @ all. What detemins wich people come with me is just sweet talking them at the end but nice try i guess.
Ugh ... should have been more clear in the original post. We can all agree the choices barely matter up until who you take with you concluding episode 4. There is no counter argument as regardless of what you chose up until that point (whether you were mean to Kenny, picked Carly, decided to steal from the car and EVERY OTHER CHOICE IN THE GAME) were pointless in my opinion. Of course if you think because SOME of the reactions differ then you have set a low bar for this really good game.
We don't care who we kill, why and when, at least not if they're males. You should keep all females and have us have romances with all of them... preferably at once.
Yours sincerly
All of us gamers
IIt is not possible. I know the limitations, so I dont expect everything to matter. each of the big choices had characters react diffrently to you, making you have certain thoughts on an event or character. that is what I expect in choice based games. If you expect unrealistic choice merging, then thats up to you.
The only game I can think of is Obsidians spy RPG Alpha Protocol, which had a very sophisticated system for decision-making and consequences...but failed to fully realise it, since it was difficult to be emotionally engaged in any of the decisions that you made.
The Walking Dead seems to have been inspired by Alpha Protocol (especially with the timed dialogue system), but improved on the idea by actually making your choices emotionally and intellectually challenging.
Sure, TWD's choices don't end up making massive, story-shaking differences (there are only a couple of games that have ever managed to do that successfully - The Witcher 2 comes to mind, but that's about it). Even so, they definitely feel like they alter how the other characters think of Lee, especially with the way that characters constantly bring up his past actions in times of crisis. In that sense, when that works, the choices are very well done.
Aside from that, there are moments where your immediate decision doesn't matter. Take the Episode 2 shoot-the-crazy-lady situation: if Lee doesn't pull the trigger, the cannibal will. If you look at that moment callously, with no emotional connection to anything that is going on, you could easily argue that the choice is pointless and didn't need to be in the game, or should have led to different outcomes. However, for those who actually care about the characters and the story, that choice is extremely important - you have to decide what kind of man you want Lee to be.
Is he a cold-blooded murderer, dealing with threats in a practical, emotionless way? Or is he more of a kind-hearted, negotiation-friendly man; a person who is willing to risk his survival for the sake of maintaining his humanity.
Sure, the choice doesn't matter...but in a setting where ultimately nothing matters, since everyone is going to die anyway, the only thing that matters is the choices that you make and the way you live your life. These choices might not affect the situations in the story all that much, but they certainly affect how the characters and the player view Lee and his relationships to other people...and in a character-focused story, that's possibly about the best thing we can hope for.
*Re-posting edit* Ugh, the rest of my wall of text disappeared. I wrote a paragraph about how the Doug/Carly decision was handled better than anything in Mass Effect 1 and 2 (which are praised for their decisions, but handled consequences hilariously badly), and...I forget.
I think my general point was that it was a good first effort, and that no other company (besides CDPR) has really managed to do divergent stories properly?
But the choices do in fact matter, just not in the scale you want. They DO change dialog, they DO change who likes you and who hates you, heck just go look at Kenny and see that they also DO change how YOU think of a character. That seems quite a lot considering Telltale is a small company. Plus why do people consider the Doug/Carly choice now invalid? Did you honestly think that because you saved them once that means they get a free pass to survive the whole game? News flash, that isn't how it works.
Yeah, but no matter how nice I am to everyone Carly won't go to the movies with me and Larry didn't show up at my birthday party, so these "choices" don't really matter. Sorry, just felt like being sarcastic.
But I think Telltale did a very good job with TWD, hope they don't fuck up ep5 (sry for my shitty english)
