She is dead, her and Doug's death was already planned to be in Ep.3 by the writers when they were scripting the first and second episodes. She was shot in the head, there is not way she could have survived. And even if she was alive, she's zombie munch.
I suspect you have only recently played episode 3. The loss of Carley was indeed tragic. The outpouring of grief on this forum over the loss of Carley clearly shows that she was a very much beloved character in this great game made by TTG.
Nothing wrong with hope. You're going to need hope after you play episode 4 .

I like the Doug Carley choice, it shows whose able-minded or not. Those of us who saved Doug are well-educated, whereas more and more proof arises that those who saved carley are the contrary

I only "stuck" to saving Doug because I liked the alarm system he set up in Ep2. By the time the death came I liked Lily too much to let the death of Carley drive a wedge between us.
To hear the way people have been talking, it seems like there was extra dialog there that made Lily seem more malicious as she shot her.
Then again it may just be the projections of the adoring fanboys looking for someone to blame. I'll never know, ep 3 is dead to me.

How do you figure that?
Based on Episode 1, Doug was an overweight nobody that was in the pharmacy. The only useful thing he did was show that he could re-control a remote for TV's. Great for the time being, but once all power is gone, he's lost usefulness. Besides that, if you ever came down to a frantic run from walkers, the last thing I'd want was some guy begging to stop and rest because he didn't take better care of himself before.
Whereas Carley, while obviously not very intelligent, already had skill as a marksmen, knew about who you were and proved she could be trusted with it. Besides that, she proved that she's courageous and heroic. She didn't have to come running out on to the street and rescue Lee and the rest from the walkers that attacked when they first got to Macon. Without her, at the very least, Duck would be dead in Episode 1 and Lee and Clem would have probably scattered off by themselves. Not a very good fate, if you ask me. Also, then she saves Lee again when the walker is after Clem in the pharmacy and she shoots it.
But I digress. Back to the original topic, no she's dead. A shot to the head is pretty fatal. Even if she managed to still be alive, the walkers that chase Lilly off the street would be over to her incapacitated body and had a good meal anyway. For the sake of the character, she was dead on impact.

Oh so we're not "able-minded" or "well-educated" because we chose Carley?
Carley was a far better character than Doug for me.She's also a woman, she is good with a gun and like Snake said Doug was an overweight nobody that was in the pharmacy.
I chose Carley but I'm not going to bash on Doug. Dissing him on his weight is a low blow, both characters deserved to live and I chose who I thought would best fit the needs of my group (soon to be group). Both were capable. Those who said "choosing Doug are more well-educated" are just elitists trying to justify their decisions. Say what you will but you just sound like haters.
Didn't take long for this thread to turn into a Carley vs Doug match.
Back on topic: If she had taken that shot to the forehead then that would be it. DEAD! For whatever reasons, TT made sure she got shot in the cheek which gives a little wiggle room and some hope. Will it happen? Don't ask me because I don't work for TT.

Troll!
Playing off Carley against Doug and vice versa is really dumb. From a narratological standpoint they both belong together. For example, Carley had to die, because a romance between her and Lee would have been unfair towards Players who chose to save Doug.
Both Doug and Carley were my favorite charachters and after their demise my interest in the game feaded (I'm willing to accept that I am alone with my opinion).
Carley is one of my absolute favorite characters in the game, but I've come to admit she's dead, and that's not going to change. Fanfiction.net is great for those of you who really wanted her to live, there's some pretty good stories written...
Wow, I'm really hoping this is a troll thread. Either that, or you're about eight years old (are you Clementine?) and you don't understand the concept of BEING SHOT IN THE HEAD.
Generally, being shot point blank in the head means you're dead. People don't need to go back and "check if she died or not".
People say she's dead, and yeah I've already watched the cutscene and stuff. I try not to think she's dead. A shot in the cheek hurts a lot, deforms your jaw, and will affect lots of blood vessels. But I don't think youll die instantly/ I think with some help and support she wouldn't die.
On topic, her (erased) was planned since very long ago, so she's (erased). There went my favorite character ever. ): Still in my/our hearts though. (Indeed)
Think POSITIVE! Haha!
Ok find shoot point blank at me in the ear (that's part of the head) sure ill die instantly. Shoot me near my mouth, don't think ill die in .5 secs.
Doug got killed saving ben.
"The fact that Doug defied Lilly by saving Ben was more heroic than anything Carley's ever done, IMO he was no action reporter with gun skills like her, he was just a normal geek who managed to save another person's life without hesitation."
RIP Doug
Carley sucks
"Doug died cooler so he's instantly the better character and, for some reason, it also means Carley sucks!!!"
As much as I'd like it, she won't be back. It wouldn't make any sense if she did come back anyway, she was shot in the head, and left behind, so she is definitely dead.
Even if Carley survived because the RV scene was averted, she probably would have brought the farm by the end of the season. Of all the people in the group, she and Lee were the most consistent in risking their own lives to save others, so statisically, they had the highest chance of not making through a ZA.
As for cheek shot scene, I think that has more to do with shoddy animation than intended ambiguity since Carley's VA has confirmed she was written off to die very early in the writing process.
I did hope TTG would have included a dream sequence or such for Carley given her close relationship with Lee. A chance to properly say good-bye so to speak, like with Clem the other character Lee is close to.
As much as I wished for this great character to survive, as far as TTG is concerned she's gone. And it actually made the rest of the game such a powerful experience because I actually felt quite lonely knowing I no longer had unconditional back-up and understanding (I didn't side with Kenny in the meatlocker). I suppose we can take comfort that Carley and Lee would be reunited in the afterlife if you believe in that sorta stuff.
Regardless, Carley will live on in our hearts, head-canon, and fanfic! I definitely recommend A New Day on fanfiction.net for a Carley survived story (though it's quite expansive on other characters as well).
Unfortunately Carley was dead before she even hit the ground! What really annoys me is that the decisions I made don't really effect the out come of this game. There should be ways to try to keep different characters alive. I also felt there should of been multiple endings. There create a patch for this game and give us more choices. Maybe we can actually save carley or Doug. Maybe there could be an ultimate happy ending but is difficult to accomplish.
I agree, Lego, multiple endings would have improved the game. This is a reason why I love Dragon Age Origins because of so many endings, including ones where some group members survive or don't based on your decisions.

That would make more sense. I like this game but they really blew it when it came to the game actually being tailored to your decisions.

I'm sorry if I'm being harsh but you need to move on. Don't live in denial but embrace your grief, it will make you stronger.

Welcome to the forum.
Thank you my friend:)
b) she is still alive, but in the middle of nowhere losing mass amount of blood with no medical attention (even less likely)
and even if she DID make it she wouldn't know the group was at savannah.

and thanx for all who answer my quastions
Can't there be a Carley or Doug thread without not having to compare them? Jesus.

Boobs/No Boobs marks the difference.
