Just Want To Say Something
For all those people saying Carley is more useful than Doug ONLY BECAUSE she can shoot a gun, well, think again. because in episode 3 Doug picks up a gun from the floor and nails two shots straight into Linda (The bandit) So he isn't that useless. I know this has nothing to do with anything, so don't even comment about it.

since they saved carley, they thought he (Doug) might be a total nerdy loser
i think people chose carley because they thought she would be a love interest which she was. I picked carley on most play through.
How come Doug lasted longer than Larry? Surely you are not implying that he was nicer than Doug:p Doug didn't finish first but he was far from last. Actually Shawn was the weakest link/nicest guy as he was the first living character WE SAW die. He was the weakest link, Goodbye:p
In ep3, when the bandits show up IIRC Carley kills 2 bandits while Doug only killed one.
If you get bored, replay the game and count all the walkers Carley and Doug killed and check the numbers between them.
Though, usefulness is in the eyes of the beholder. We all have a different classification regarding what we believe makes someone useful or not. Carley was far more useful for long term survival and Doug was no more than a walker out eating his fill while others continue to starve.
Just like Ben, I'm glad Doug is dead.

Honestly, that was half the reason I left carley. I was going over who was more useful quickly in my head when choosing one ( I still thought doug was more useful.) and I remembered she knew my past. I didnt want anyone to find out, so that just made it easier to leave her. Also half the reason I killed Larry. I was removing any knowledge of my past. I would have chose my choices the same if they didnt know, but It gave me more reasons.
I chose the more likeable one and at that moment it was clearly Carley for me. Although I admit the whole situation was very unfair towards Doug. He was still more likeable than 90% of the people you come across later...

The amount of posts and threads in which people feel the need to compare Carley and Doug and bash one over the other is ridiculous. Love the character you love and let other people love the character they want. Both are good people/characters.
episode 4 has been out for about (almost) 3 full weeks and the herd is getting hungry. More angry posts will be present as time clicks away until episode 5. This game makes people wanna kill...but people choose either for silly reasons like carley has boobs, or serious ones like she is the best shooter in ep 1. Some saved Doug for the walkie-talkie thinking he could fix it but TT really set up an unfair advantage to Carley's story because of the secret thing, romantic interest thing and the girl was likeable...even in her final moment of calling bitch lily out about just being afraid and paranoid. tho just a tad bit over that it gets you shot in the face line, but hey still made for entertaining gaming. Dougs was sad cuz he didnt do anything to deserve being shot so it made me more sad and could only do a doug playthrough 1 on ep 3 but love seeing carley bite the bullet:p not cuz i dislike her its just powerful stuff;)

Yes, Doug's and Carley's storylines weren't really balanced. I actually think this was a major flaw of this game, but I'm gonna write a longer piece on that once Ep. 5 is out.
1. She already had a weapon and proved she could effectively use it.
2. She proved her bravery by rushing out into the street and killing the walker attacking Duck and herding Lee and the others into the pharmacy
3. She knew about Lee's past, and based on our short conversation on it, I decided I could trust her with knowing it
4. She went on a rescue mission to get Glenn with me, and proved again that she was combat useful
In my opinion, you never even got to really chat with Doug in the first episode, and we only heard about him saving Carley. The only really useful thing he did in Episode 1 was reprogram the remote to turn on the TV's across the street. Extremely useful in that moment, but I already knew power wasn't going to last and then what?
I don't hate Doug at all. I wish they both had been able to survive a little while longer, but based on the interactions with Carley in the first episode, I found her to be a much better option to save and keep with the group going forward.
And then based on what happens in the next two episodes, I'm glad I saved her. I liked her and Lee's interactions and I really liked that Lee was able to open up about his past to everyone in the group because she suggested it.
I figured with them being killed so quickly, we'd see a mental change in Lee a little more. Just some way to show that their death had an impact on him.
Well, then why havent you realized then why some people chose Carley over Doug, then? Doug is a pretty cool guy, and honestly, there are just a few Doug-Haters here in the forums. Most of Carley-fans dont hate Doug :P
