Will Clem Go Insane?

edited November 2012 in The Walking Dead
I'm reading TWD Compendium Volume 2. A common theme so far is that the children are going insane; Carl, Ben, Sophia, are all losing it because of the deaths and trauma they've endured.

Will TTG follow the same path and allow Clem to drft into insanity?

carls not insane? hes a realist. although a little bit of a sociopath at this point, but i would not say that hes flying the cookoo's nest.

also sophia isnt insane either, read further ull find out.

only one who really lost it was ben.

Hate to disagree but everyone is going fucking insane in the comics. Who wouldn't. but i will say that they are all equally fucking nuts and so the children are actually normally by the standards set by adults:p

Clem is not a "Carl" character. She is probably the most "normal" out of the whole group. Lee's decisions are not immediately changing her; she is "absorbing" his decisions which will impact her future. Which is why I love her character. She comes out of the whole stereotypical "children in TWD grow and become insane" process.

-Now, I would really like to see whether or not she retains her innocence after she finds out her parents are dead...

Carl is killing people, and enjoying it... I think he's pretty f-ing nuts...

I think anyone who finds themselves in a ZA would lose it to some degree.
Carl may still be a kid, but in his world losing a bit of what you once were and becomming a bit heartless is a survival trait!

Still, he needs to understand he cant run off solo, like Clem shouldnt be crawling through doggie doors by herself.

If anything, Clem will just become a bitter, hardened survivor. She'll be cold to the outside world, and if she never finds her parents and with Lee going to die, it's likely that she'll cut off a great deal of her emotions. She could basically follow a more extreme sociopathic path than Carl in the comics, because at least he still has his father alive to keep some part of his emotions intact.

I kind of fear for what's ahead for Clem, provided she survives Episode 5. I think her future is pretty bleak, and without Lee there to keep her emotionally grounded, she has a chance to really become cold.

No man. Carl hasn't enjoyed killing anyone. If you'd actually read the comic you'd know that.

    Comic spoilers
Carl only has killed Shane and Ben up until this point. He says that he did both because they both needed to be killed and no one else would do it.

Shane lost his mind and was going to murder Rick. In a pretty quick moment, Carl shot Shane to save his father's life. He didn't want to do that, and he certainly didn't like it.

Ben murdered his twin brother, and was excited at the prospect that he would come back as a walker. THAT is insanity. He didn't realize that he'd done anything wrong, and Carl murdered him so that he would try and kill anyone else.

After hearing how Rick brutally murdered the hunters that attacked Dale and thinks that Carl wouldn't love him if he knew what he'd done, Carl confesses that it was him that had killed Ben and that he cries every single night since he killed him. Ben was his friend, and Carl expresses how much he misses him, but no one else would kill him because he was dangerous.

Carl's become a realist and a slight psychopath, but he's not crazy.

Sophia is actually pretty normal compared to everyone else.

We don't learn much about Billy.

Ben? He F*cking lost his shit :D

I hope not, but you never know, if they did it right then it would be really good, but written the wrong way, it will be shit!

The finale episode needs to be good otherwise they will convince people not to buy season 2

carl never enjoyed killing people in the comics, when he kills shane he cries secretly for months, same with ben... as far as i know he doesnt kill other people? ive read up to issue 100.

Killing zombies is a whole different matter. Id say hes indifferent/ cold not crazy with blood lust. He just knows hes gotta be strong to stay alive.

Carl is probably the most realistic character in the comics, wtf lol. He's not an idealist or a pessimist. He's not insane at all. Ben went fucking insane. Shane was insane and greedy. But carl? He's a realist.
Clem is more of an idealist and even though she is affected by Lee's choices deep down she's still idealistic.

Clementine is... How can I explain this.. Most kids adapt pretty fast to their environment, we (comic book fans) already saw how Carl is getting used to death and the unsafety of the world surrounding him. Sophia is taking a little longer, but she is too adapting pretty well. Comic (somewhat minor) Spoilers:
Some time after her mother Carol let herself get bitten, after she was quiet and obiously traumatized by all the dearhs surrounding her; she told her new adoptive parents, even with a smile, as far as I remember, that she knew they weren't her real parents, and it was okay, because she still loved them

Clementine is smart, I think she will learn from Lee, and will grow up to be a good survivor, rather than being driven insane (if she doesn't die first, of course).
