Steam Sam and Max episode 1 crash

I bought sam and max episode 1 from steam.

it crashes to desktop everytime i try to use the tear gas launcher on any of the soda poppers.
it just comes up with a windows error message saying that sammax101.exe had an error and had to close.

any advice?

my specs are:

Windows XP media center edition
Intel dual core processor T2400 @ 1.83GHz
1GB ram
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600
DirectX 9.0c

    Sounds like a file got corrupted during the download. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling?

    not to sound like a total idiot, but how would you uninstall and reinstall from steam?
    I can't see an option to do so :(

    Hah, now that you mention it, I don't know myself.

    Ok, after looking it up, you can uninstall steam games the old fashioned way by going to your System folder and then doing Add/Remove Programs. Just click on Episode 1 to remove it. This will bring up Steam (so it might be a good idea to log in first), which will ask you to verify the deletion.

    Once the game is gone, you can click on it in your Steam games list to re-download.
