I could survive if I had a silent gun and a sword.

i think i have the potential to survive, but it wouldn't make a good story i would mainly just hide in places zombies couldn't get to and move by using rooftops (terrace housing in my area makes this quite possible), the only drama in that story would be internal thought

I wouldn't count on it, but you never know. I might find a nice group, or perhaps end up dying the first 15 minutes. Either one is possible.

I'd probably kill myself if I see more than 5 zombies.

I don't think ill survive, if im desperate enough i always have my sword to commit suicide ;)

I could survive until the local food supply ran out, then it becomes a rather big problem. I've always felt a good way of surviving would be to stalk a large group but keep out of their way, then wait until they die and scavenge their supplies. It's not too difficult to find a secure place to hide once you realise the walkers can't climb, swim or jump.

Depends if I find a group or am in a government safe zone. If I get neither, I would live for a few weeks scavenging then get eaten/kill myself.

I fucking love questions like these, it panders to my ego and 'specialness' (which is really bollocks lol) I might survive depends on my situation, if I wake up to a zombie apocalypse one day and have to kill my room mate ransack the house for food weapons and porn (obviously)

tip toe my way to neighbours house slam his head in with a cricket bat, and steal his sweet jag and drive to the country side and look for old world war two shelters/castles (WALES FTW) and live my life in the country side in a fucking fort

or I wake up to find my room mate chewing on my toe.

but the main pont of this post is fuck my room mate, and his beasty boys at 3am in the fucking morning.
when the zombie apocalyse comes, i'm dropping him like i did ben

It depends... we never know. I'm guessing I could handle myself for some months, maybe even a year. Well, at least I'll last a couple of weeks.

I live in a rural area, near the highway but it's still over 3 miles from my decelopment to it. So plenty of cars to siphon gas from That aren't too far away, and could get materials like lumber from the local home depot/lowes mear the onset.
Between everyone in my neighborhood alone we have about 200 guns and tens of thousands of ammo rounds. We also live fairly near the water and our neighbors have a boat (as well as fishing rods, nets, and scooba gear so we could easily fish). All houses in my area are made of concrete and we have storm shutters. Zombies aren't getting in if it comes to that. :P
We're also always well stocked with canned food and own a generator. We also all own wells for clean fresh water that we won't even need to boil to make sure it's clean. (i live in florida so the ground is all sand and acts as a natural filter)

So I think I'd have a really good chance. :P

If i leave the city maybe.

I wouldn't say I'm a loner but I can go weeks without human interaction and don't get attached very easily.

I'm pretty sure I'll be able to keep from doing anything too reckless or stupid, although I can just see myself avoiding people altogether and going on scavenging ops under cover of nightfall. Don't know if it would be much of a life.
  • edited November 2012
No one knows. I'm pretty sure many people would "opt out" if this actually happened, like Dr.Jenner said in the tv show. I don't know, I may survive.

It's really hard to say, were as I know my military training and kenjutsu would come in handy, it would really depend on where I was and if I'd be able to get to my heavier weapons when it broke out.
My wife and sons locations would also be a consideration as I would react very differently if they were with me, say on the weekend vs. a week day when myself & my wife would be at work and my sons at school.

    of course i survive!!!!!!!

    i am from austria

nothing els than mountains and strange weirdoes with a s**t load of weapons on them

I might. There're lot of possibilities I wouldn't make it, though, and maybe get killed by the living, not the dead.
  • edited November 2012
In the opening days, I'd probably starve to death waiting for the power to come back on. Failing that, I'd choke to death after finding a large supply of food and eating too fast because I had nearly starved to death.

Would be far from the first apocalypse I've survived.

    molly!

minus the badass, i would avoid all danger if possible :)

This a hard question and why I chose "I might". It all depends on where we all are located and how much we know when this situation were to occur. If you were stuck in downtown NYC it would be way harder than being in the mountains (and sparsely populated) of a place away from millions of people.

Couple that thought with the fact most people say they could survive, but how many could survive the harsh northern winters without power and being on the run? Again it depends on the situation (or time of year in certain areas).

Then we get to fresh food and water...yikes. I think most people who think they would survive the entire time are either crazy or disillusioned. I have hope I could make it, but realize the possibility would be a challenging one.

lol a lot of northern states would be so screwed. High population density and winter is cold as hell. Kirkman probably put the comics location in GA because most areas are more rural and it doesn't get as cold. Only thing he seemed to forget is how many fruit tree orchards there are in GA. Seems almost impossible to me that the group didn't find a single one. They're literally all over the place and essentially mean free food come harvest time which was during the time they were near atlanta (north of which is where my sister lives an there are a butt ton of orchards).

I would '' Opt out '' as soon as i could find a gun/painless way...

and all of you just sitting there thinkin ''oh yeah... i can survive'' thats probs a lie.
maybe like one of you would survive on this page right now.

Like molly says '' in the end the dead always win ''

Even if I did "survive", I'd have to spend the rest of my life in fear and wondering if it's really over. That's no way to live.

Just like in the movies, it will be several months after the apocalypse has "ended", and me and my new found friend/lover will be starting a new life in a new home. One day, I'll be sitting outside on the porch with a glass of tea, I fall asleep, night comes, and I awake to a blood-curdling, familiar sound coming from inside. I walk in the door, and my partner bites my face off.

this is why you have to have separate rooms and weapons at all times

Yes, but three months after you thought everything had possibly ended, you would start to get complacent. You'd think it's okay to just relax outside with a glass of iced tea while your gun was inside.

I don't get what you mean by seperate rooms. They could've been sitting in the living room.

let's say your wife/husband and you sleeping in the same bed, suddenly your wife/husband is biting your neck out

I'd think even after the apocalpyse people who do survive would always carry around firearms just in case. Back before civilization humans almost always carried weapons if they went somewhere due to possible threats that saw them as a tasty meal. I'd say the idea of a ZA is to put us in that situation again until we fully rebuild society where the world is a muh safer place again. Although if the infection is persistant and even in newborns, then we may always need to carry weapons until a cure is finally found for everyone.

Yeah i might last a week or two on my own, just holding out. Perhaps longer if useful people were to help out.

I could probably survive a little while. However I know for a fact I would eventually crack and succumb to the new life I had to live. I couldn't imagine carrying on each day of my life in absolute fear that I could be eaten alive and turn into one of those things.

If anything I'd probably wind up committing suicide after a while. Give or take a month or so. Especially if I witnessed my relatives dying. That would cause me to not really want to live anymore.

I'm not even gonna try to say I'd survive. I probably could for a while, but I don't have the willpower. I couldn't live knowing how many people died, how many faces I'd never see again, what I've done. I'd just cry and kill myself in the least painful way I could as quick as I could.

Well i live in the north were it snows zombies cant ove in the snow. Plus ZA woudnt last beacuse zombies decay in the sun.
  • edited November 2012
Might survive if i have the right survival mind. But after a few months i might go crazy or lose my willpower to live, but before that happens i'll use a pistol to end it.

i guess it's things like this that show how different people views on the same thing can be, maybe in the tv show i would be like the last scientist left at the CDC, i found it unbelievable that they would all kill themselves, but a way higher amount of people have said they would kill themselves here then i would have imagined so maybe it not that unbelievable.

if i didn't speak with anybody for a very long time in a ZA world, i could turn out a bit like him, but replace the aggression with fear and paranoia mixed with a bit of living inside my own head and thats my kind of crazy :D
