Lee, I am a christian man. I keep asking myself if this was me asking you to put your life on the line would you be there for me? well there has been plenty of times when you havent. At the start we were a team but then you started to think more about YOURSELF than your FRIENDS!!!
Like I said though, Kenny's my bro, at the end of ep4 he told me he's got my back. I reckon he'll save me if I need it in ep5. If he doesn't, I'll hunt him down once I've turned into a walker and bite his skinny arms off.
"you've always been there for me Lee,
always had my back when it mattered,
what kind of friend would I be if I wasn't there for you now,
Bitten or not, I'm with you to the end, you can count on me".

We're like bros in my game. We've had our ups and downs, but since bashing Larry's head in together we've pretty much had each other's back regardless!
What's everyone else's relationship with Kenny like?
Unless you agree with him at every opportunity he treats you like garbage.
Kenny is too selfish he wants Lee to do everything he says or else he acts like a 5 year old and gets pissed i hope he dies in episode 5 he did not even come along with me.

I'm on the fence with Kenny really. He's made some pretty fucked up decisions and said some outrageous things, and I've been trying so hard to get on his good side but he's just an asshole. Ever since I wanted to negotiate with Larry and Lilly in the pharmacy, he's had it in for me, despite the fact I've been supportive of them, gave food to Duck, etc.
I couldn't side with Kenny on the petty arguments he was having with Lilly because I didn't think either of them was capable of being a leader. I did respect and sympathise with Lilly more for trying to take charge of the rations.
Oh yes, and of course, the Larry head-bashing incident. I tried to save Larry and I thought Kenny was an absolute nutcase for killing someone who could have still been alive.
Since then, we've been at eachother's throats pretty much.
Maybe its because my military exp. has made me pragmatic in my decision making under stress.
And maybe its because Ive never met a boat capt. that says please.
Maybe its because Im a dedicated husband & dad that would throw anyone or my self into a meat grinder if it was to protect my wife and sons.
Or maybe Im just a phuct up psychopath, but me & Kenny are bros and very li'l he's done is different from what Id do in the same given situations. And while Id hope it would never come to that, Im okay with it.
Edit: other than letting Duck out of mine or my wifes sight on Hershels farm, that was foolish.
Kenny sometimes seems to be very hasty with irrational decisions in dangerous moments involving him or his family, but he always takes the time to calculate how much has someone done for him to see if he'll help them in the time of need.
Except the 1st ep, he's a total bro no matter what in the first ep.
I really did want to like Kenny. In the first episode we were bros. I helped out his family, saved Duck, and protected Duck from Larry. The second episode, I was mostly on his side, up until the Larry decision. I decided to help Lilly, and he stands by and watches me almost get killed. In episode three, I did my best to stick with him and repair our friendship, going so far as to unlock the "zombie Duck" ending. In episode four I gave up after he got pissed at me for saving Ben. Seriously, screw that guy.
Hi, new to the forums but have played a few Telltales and this is my favourite by far.
I started off liking Kenny but I think that's because Larry was such an archetypal survival movie bastard that Kenny seemed okay - his intentions seemed good, even though his son was clearly an idiot. But then Larry died, by Kenny's hands (in my version), and so my ire turned towards Lilly who became more and more paranoid and then I left her behind and started noticing that Kenny was so self-serving.
I just love this series because, somehow, I am immersed in this World (I think this may point to excellent writing, especially regarding the characters ^^). The choices are harrowing at times and the seemingly unimportant things keep coming back to bite me on the arse. I'm never normally a fan of little kids appearing in games but Clementine... Every time she has something to say her voice speaks to me and I side with her and, even though most of the time the outcome is not what I want to hear and see, I can't help being guided by her.
Kenny is a character who, on the surface of it, I normally love in this genre of game/film: The outwardly simple guy who's making tough choices to support his family. But really he's doing stuff with a 'screw everyone else' attitude. And my personal take on the 'bro speech' is that, of course he'll be pals with Lee - *as long as Lee does exactly what he wants him to do*. I buried the zombie kid for him after squashing it underfoot and the ungrateful bastard is too obsessed by running away that he won't come and find Clem. Apparently, siding with him but not always doing what he says means I don't get that support.
Of course, all of this continues to point to excellent writing - if I can feel passionately about pixels then someone is doing a very good job. I think that answers the question: 'Why the hate?'. But it could also answer the question: 'Why do you love Kenny?' if your scenario differs.

Maybe I like Kenny because I feel sorry for him. In Episode 1 I'll always see him as a good man no matter the odds, because regardless of what he thinks of you he shows that he was willing to throw himself in harm's way to save you after Larry punched you. In episode 2 he began losing his humanity a bit at the meat locker, and it only got worse when his family died. I just see him as someone who tried his best but couldn't keep his crap together in the face of the apocalypse when he realized how horrible a thing he'd just done to Larry, even if he did think he was about to turn. Especially since he's been carrying the guilt of Shawn's death around with him since Hershel's farm, and now has Duck and Kat on top of that. I'm surprised he hasn't shot himself yet. All that being said, I never would have been friends with Kenny if in Episode 1 he'd been like he is now.

Deep. Maybe its because he was there with me from the first episode. In episode 2 I chose a few conversation options that were neutral and Kenny got mad at me, telling me I can't sit on the fence all the time and I will have to make a decision one day. The next big decision after that was with Larry, where I had to side with Lilly or Kenny. I chose to side with Kenny, and since then I've committed to that decision, but I'm glad I did
I think a lot of people don't like him because of how quickly your friendship goes down the drain if you don't side with him. You're totally his bro on episode 1 and the beginning of episode 2, and then if you decide you're gonna try to save Larry, he just leaves you to die the moment after that when Danny points a gun at you, and later when you're under the door on episode 3. It's almost as if you've never been friends in the first place, it's kinda weird, really.
I think it's hard for the average person to place themselves in the world that a ZA or any extinction type event would change the world into. That mind set is so foreign to most people that they cant truly grasp it. Even if they do try to totally immerse themselves in it, they still fall short because those emotions are so out of the normal human experience that their sense of morality and normalcy just wont let their minds go there. It's one of the reasons that many combat vets have a tough time reinserting themselves back into normal society, not that it cant be done, many do, but it's hard to "put the djinn back in the bottle". In Heart of Darkness (or was it Apocalypse Now, or both, they jumble together in my mind sometimes) Kurtz talks about embracing "the horror" and Nietzsche's quote about how "the abyss" doesn't change but changes you and how it can consume you if you don't fight to maintain your humanity. Dales character wrestles with it and refuses to embrace the savage instincts that seem too easy for Shane to adopt.
Im not sure just how the writters intended Kennys character to be seen. Is he simply a shallow selfish bastard? Is it deeper than that or am I just projecting my own internal struggles onto the character? I dunno.
i expect people to protect their family, if kenny had put his family at risk just to save a stranger i would have lost respect for him, and it's not selfish to protect your family, thats why i like kenny he would do anything to keep his family safe, I'm not a father but i would do anything to protect my sister and my niece.
if there was a character in the game that abandoned his family to save their own ass, i would hate them, but i can't hate a guy for protecting his family (or who lost the family he loved)

Me too, but not to the detriment of the rest of the group. Family comes first but everyone must stick together. Kenny was not a team player - in my game anyway. Multiple times I've come very close to dying because he's been too scared/too much of an asshole to help.

he's not perfect, but i think he is basically a good person trying hard to protect his family, and in my main save his family was important to me so i was thinking in a similar way to him

Wooooowoooo! Kenny deserves a round of applause
He will. If you think this is a guy that will risk his life to save you, especially when you're bitten, you're crazy.
*joker clap*

Irony. Funny, isn't it?
