Episode 5 thoughts?

edited November 2012 in The Walking Dead
Anyone have any thoughts on the upcoming Episode 5? I know we are all excited for it, and I haven't been this pumped for a game since Halo 2 and 3 (I was a big Halo fan back then, not so much now though.) And not to mention the people who played the unreleased version keep talking about how amazing and emotional it is, just makes you want to play it even more. Regardless, I just hope it can get released soon.

Just a side note to the OP, I think Halo 4 would restore your faith in the series. I just finished it and it was easily one of the best written games in the series. It managed to give depth and personality to Chief and Cortana as individuals and how they relate to each other. Definitely a great game!

Anyway, my main hope is that the game has a definite and poignant conclusion. The WORST thing that could happen is for them to do some kind of sequel bait. I just want a conclusion. If elements carry on to Season 2 then so be it, but let the main story end. It would be best for the narrative and for the recurring themes of the game.

And I know the rumor is the actual ending is more or less set in stone, but I want to see payoff for your choices to yield some variation options. Like maybe how Lee's actions ultimately affected Clementine and whoever else is left. I'd love for Lee to be viewed a specific way in people's eyes (like having a conflicted Kenny if you played that route admit Lee is ultimately the best friend he ever had!).

And I really want consistency. The whole "reason with him" issue in ep1/ep2 bugged me so I hope it yields an actual consistent result in the end no matter what.

Last choice you have to make..... Which of your friends you want to bite? Roll credits.

I am looking forward to see how this all ends... mostly what happens to Clem.. after... well you know.

Apart from the most obvious (Lee's fate), it would be nice to see some kind of epilogue Fallout or Baldurs Gate style on what happens with the group - to just leave them hanging would just leave a lot of questions.

My hope is that everything will be finished - we will know what will happen to to everyone, we will resolve the Radioman issue, make it clear about Clem's parents and find out where Virgil and his group went. With all that, I think we can relax and just await season 2.

Speaking of, in regards to the topic: will a season 2 build on season 1 or not? I don't mind either - TTG has proven they can create good and engaging characters, so a standalone season would be just as good, and probably help pulling new players into a franchise that is unfortunately very small, compared to say for games like Halo, Battlefield or Mass Effect.

    .

chief and cortana maybe but the rest was in some way a rip off of mass effect, old alien race locked away is suddenly released from it's cage to wreak havoc on the universe and one guy is supposed to stop them ?

it looks nice to play but the level design to me just seems way to similar to the previous games but with a different colour scheme.

plus annoying points where you have too much going on so you get killed alot even when in cover or the ai now flanks you.

I loved Halo 4 but it didnt feel like halo. It was cool to have an actual inteligent enemy for once. (definitely not playing on legendary any time soon) I agree about the levels, There was one that felt like the level quarantine in halo 2, and im pretty sure i've walked those same routes in halo 3. Wth was with the guy with the telekinisis? c'mon its halo not star wars. And that ending was bs the chief should be dead and you know it. wrote this in a way to try to avoid spoilers

Saying it ripped off ME though is like saying ME ripped off any number of science fiction stories. Just because other games have similar beats doesn't make them ripoffs. Plus, the Forerunners and Reapers are radically different in their design and philosophy.

And are either of the level design complaints really complaints? A game in a series having similar gameplay to other entries in the series. Again, you could use that as a knock against ME or even TWD. It's just being consistent with the series. Plus, the other Halo games didn't have the Pelican and Broadsword sequences.

And yes enemies are everywhere. That's kind of what happens when you have one man taking on two alien races. You'll be outnumbered and flanked. Its called tactics. That's what people use in fights. It makes the game a challenge, which is fun. It is not supposed to be a cake walk.

It's the start of a new trilogy. There's no way they will kill the Chief. And I thought the end was the best part. It had the most emotional impact of the story and the most character payoff emotionally. Plus there's the legendary end credit scene!

And why is telekinesis suddenly not allowed when they have teleportation, levitation and slip space? The forerunners are evolved God-like beings so I'd say its reasonable to give then some evolved powers.

i like challenge but what i don't like is when a challenge is made by seemingly impossible odds.

the banshes being a particulat annoyance clear out all the ground troops just to get blasted off the tower by the flying ship you can't see untill after your dead.

also pellet yeah i thought the exact same thing about halo2 like sections.

another gripe i have with it is the chief armor looks almost lke the crysis nano suit if you remove the green armour plating.

i'm have played most of it on heroic in co-op

I really loved the Halo series, and I was a big fan, and I still am today. I just think after Halo 3, the games felt a little different, they were getting improved with a lot of things, and I missed the old style of it, but that's just me. I'm sure Halo 4 is amazing, I loved Halo: Reach, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the game, but it was definitely fun.

And on Episode 5, I was thinking, what if Lilly joined up with the Campman/radio guy? Seeing how the group left Lilly, if she did not die, she could've joined up with the campman.

Please excuse the noob jumping right in sans intro.

I've been looking for a problem with my home network ever since attempting to download episode five, message (on iPad) reads: "Unable to complete purchase: a network error occured."

Is it me or has episode 5 not "really" been released? I'm reading it's available.

All that aside, wish I'd known this forum existed earlier, The Walking Dead Kicks Serious But, I digress..

I don't think Episode 5 is 'officially' released yet, but in some places it might say it is, although Telltales twitter suggests that they might be releasing it very soon though. [Too many teasers talking about playing the unreleased version, makes me angry.]

Thank you so much for the reply!

I'm guessing I must be patient, and I will be, but I'm the sort that really needs to move on when I'm ready.

Lee bitten and Clem missing? I gotta fix that!:p

I just want to see who lives, what Lee's fate is, and what Campman's fate is. Plus, what happens after. And maybe showing the outcomes of the Dairy, the Motor Inn, the Train stop, where Carley/Doug was killed, and Savannah would be nice to see in the credits.

If this game is tailored to how we play, then why do certain outcomes have a "fix" no matter how you play it?

Carley will die, Duck dies and so does Hershels son no matter how it is played.

That is true, but they could give insight to the situations of the game, maybe even tell what happened to Hershel or Glenn. (That is if Glenn doesn't appear in Episode 5.) Although a few people have said on the Telltale's twitter of something happening in the credits, maybe a preview of season 2, or something about Clementine.

As the developers put it, they're giving a tailored experience unique to you... Think of it as a tailored piece of clothing. It's a jacket that "fits" you better; it ISN'T an entirely different piece of clothing. The developers weren't interested in making multiple games. From the onset, they had a vision of the plot AND the ending. Your choices are just meant to reflect your personality and deliver an appropriate experience without changing certain plot elements.

Is it possible that Lee survives as a result of an amputation. Vernon is a doctor...perhaps a character not seen yet?

Or is it that Lee's redemption is seeing Clementine back in her parents arms with him saving them?

It's obvious that Crista is pregnant...it seems that there is way too much here for it to end and start a new group for Season 2.

My hope is that we get a bunch of cliff hangers that keep us salivating for the upcoming season.

I think it's too late for amputation at this point. It would probably have had to been done immediately after being bitten.

Crista being pregnant makes it seem likely that season two will probably take place a few months after the end of season one. We'll probably see the group in a new location, and skip the boring boat ride.

When a game is as amazing as Halo 4 you talk about it.

on-topic no idea but it ought to be fantastic, what with ME 3 and AC 3 generally being "underwhelming" by "fans" because the endings "sucked" I hope this one manages to impress everyone (and TBH I didn't mind either but they weren't good so I'm hoping this one will be.)
