Episode four is glitched for me?

edited November 2012 in The Walking Dead
Kenny doesn't seem to like me even though I almost always stood up for him and even chose the Clementine is my family choice. He won't listen.

The only negative things I done which probably affected my decision were not saving duck in episode one, agreeing with Larry AFTER I initially agreed with Kenny (I agreed with him but when Larry said he may have been bitten, I said we throw duck out only if he is indeed bitten. I then spoke to Ken after and told him I was with him and not Larry.)

I also fought Kenny even though I tried to calm him down, I made Kenny shoot both his son and the zombie in the attic, I also saved Ben.

However, I gave Duck both water and those animal crackers and never treated Kat or Duck poorly. Why does he not want to join me?

This, also fighting him doesn't help either.

Not glitched, you just made the wrong choices.

How do I make him join me then? I'd be willing to replay the whole chapter four if necessary, but I'm afraid that would just waste time. Should I kill the zombie boy or no? I want the whole group to join me, with Ben as well. I'd rather see a character progress than die earlier than he could, so I saved both Molly and Ben.

    The damage is already done.

The fact that you even suggested that they may need to throw out Duck coupled with you beating the crap out of Kenny on the train is what's going to keep you down.

You could try to replay the very end of episode 4 and hope the, "Clementine is my family now" line works. But if that doesn't work, it sounds like you need to start a new game from episode 1.

You can get him with you with one major strike between you two (such as not helping him kill Larry), but too many just ruins it.

I just said I tried the Clementine is my family line and it didn't work. Also, I helped him kill Larry.

But I think you've gone against him far too many times, especially regarding Duck, so I think you'd have to go back to episode one to fix the damage... sorry =/

In the new Playing Dead that came out, Gary Whitta said that the amount of math behind Kenny to get him to come with you would make Nate Silver's head spin. The big choices matter, but telling him he's an idiot and such in dialogue will also count against you probably more than you think.

That being said, not helping Duck in episode 1 twice will go against you a lot, especially if you wanted to use the "Clementine's my family" option.

You can disagree with Kenny on two major decisions other than the one when he asks you to kill Larry. If you fail to meet those requirements he will question whether he should help you or not. If you tell him that you need him, he'll say that you've been looking out for yourself and that he's been 'keeping score' even if we haven't.
However, he will tell you that he'll wait for you until you come back, or at least until nightfall, and that he'll take you even bit. In my opinion, that's the best option in hindsight, considering it's ideal to have someone guarding and ready to go with the boat.

But if you fail too meet those requirements and instead say that clem is your family, he may come with you depending on how you treated Katjaa & Duck. I'm not sure what the variables are here, but I would assume the Shawn or Duck decision and siding with Kenny or Larry in the drugstore on the topic of whether he's bit or not are influences.

And finally, you can tell Kenny to go fuck himself, which I was very tempted to do at that point. He won't come with you, and he doesn't mention anything about waiting for you with the boat, so I don't think this is a good idea...

wow, I redid the whole chapter four and the only thing I did different was kill the zombie boy myself, and he joined. I don't get it, so if he killed the boy, he was mad at Lee for that? I don't get it. Oh well, at least I got the whole group to join.
