Are zombies hands made of Knives?
I know this isnt really a spoiler for episode 5, but
in episode 4 when your lee and you don't kill enough zombies on the stairs, they get to you and AS soon as there hand touches your stomach, your guts start flying out. THIS also happens to that fat lady cancer patient. when the zombies reach through the door and they rip her guts out.
Can someone tell me again how hands can rip open skin in 1 move?
I urge you to try it on your friends and tell me how it goes please.
You have ONE move.

They're capable of feats like these because of that.
Yeah, i was kinda really annoyed at how everything was breaking, i mean there hadn't been an Earthquake or something to cause structural damage to MOST things in the area. Just the ladder breaking, the Metal Porch coming off, the Overhang Sign thingy breaking. I mean come on.
This. At least, historically, that's been the case in zombie fiction. We don't do things at full strength because consciously and unconsciously, we are worried about things like tearing muscles and breaking bones. Zombies don't have that reflex. If they want to pull on something, they will do it until their arms come off or that something gives. Since it takes less force to break skin than it does to rip an arm out of a socket, they can and will tear into your flesh.
Plus, since it's relatively thin and zombies are always grasping and clutching at things, I would imagine the skin on their fingers would be some of the first to go, leave nice, hard, potentially sharp bone.
While I can buy this explanation, it also leads to questions like - why, during the fifty million times that somebody's leg gets grabbed by a walker during the game, aren't their legs just ripped clean off in one go? If they have no internal strength inhibiting desires, it seems like they could tear your legs or arms off like pulling a turkey's leg off (happy almost Thanksgiving, everyone!).
Just a thought. Like somebody else said, you can't bank on any serious level of realism in this kind of environment - it would just make everything boring.
They can, if they get a really good hold of you and some leverage. But the force it takes to rip a leg off is, I would imagine, more than ripping open a stomach.
...this is a weird thing to be asking my brain to rationalize. I think maybe we should just go with "magic zombie strength" after all.
