No one is coming back

edited November 2012 in The Walking Dead
Do you guys not realize that Kenny, Lee, Molly, Lilly, Carly, Duck, Katjaa, Ben, Vernon, or any other character will make a reapperance? Its the walking dead and Im sure telltale will get coerced into making someone reappear because it will appease everyone but thats not what TWD is like. I personally think the most underrated thing about this game that everyone seems to miss is that this game is realistic (of course for it being in a zombie apocalypse).

I know it would "cool" to see molly or lilly again but that would completely ruin the integrity of the game that they built up every episode. In real life, Kenny doesnt kill 20+ zombies with his bare hands. Hes dead. Get over it and move on.

Nobodies coming back. Clementine is the only one to get out alive after surviving the whole season 1(christa and omid didnt join till end of episode 3 but ya there alive). While i would love to see clementine meet up with lily even if only for a little bit for her to tell lily what happened and see her reaction i doubt it would happen.

LEE, CARLEY, DUCK, KATJAA and BEN are DEAD! They will not return. However I don't think Kenny even died.

Funny though. The character that we've seen last the longest is a little girl.

well in the end everyone in the group would have done everything to save her, just that lee did the most.

Isn't it funny that I hated Kenny while playing the earlier episodes and now I actually miss him? Good storytelling TellTale :)

Me and kenny werent on the best terms like super friends but we had enough of a friendship to have each others back most of the game.

Ahh your new here I assume? When Carly died youd be shocked to see how many people actually thought she was alive. Not so much with duck/kat/ben but its even doubly worse for kenny. WHo cares if you didnt "see" him die... In either case he was boxed in with seemingly and endless amount of zombies. HE IS DEAD AND NOT COMING BACK. What do you think happened to kenny then? he was secretly super human and then flew away with an invisible cloak on?

Kenny's dead, as much as it pains me to say. There's no way he got out of that room alive, swarming with walkers, in the dark, with no ammo. At least he redeemed himself.

It would be nice to see Lee in a dream or something in season 2. Oh, and Kenny? Tyreese survived a horde of zombies in the comics, but that won't happen with Kenny. He's a poor hand-to-hand fighter anyway.

Thank god he was a fisherman instead of a boxer. He never would have made a living.

    One word: Tyreese.

Though yes, I agree with your overall point. People we know to be dead--Doug, Carley, Larry, Mark, Duck, Katjaa, and Ben--are definitely not coming back. I consider Kenny's return to be highly unlikely too, in spite of people pointing out that we don't actually see him go down. That may be technically true, but there wasn't really any other way out of that alley, and Kenny's not that much of a badass. More importantly though, it would undo all of the dramatic weight of that heroic sacrifice moment. Lilly and Glenn are also unlikely to return since their stories are covered in the books

That said, this isn't the comics where we just follow Rick forever and ever. Whenever they do a second season, it's obviously not going have Lee as the main character. If they wanted to tie it in with the events of Season 1 to pull in those of us who already played it, they could easily bring back Clementine or Christa and Omid. Even Vernon is a possibility, since last we heard of him, he had gotten away with the boat.

As far as Molly goes, I'd say odds are pretty decent we might see her again in Season 2. She only goes down if you fail to shoot the walker attacking her and if you left Clementine at the house. And even then, we apparently don't actually see her die. You don't generally go out of your way to make a character that hard to kill unless you have future plans for them. And of all the characters in the game, Molly is the one with the most unanswered questions. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we haven't seen the last of her.

I agree that they will have obvious tie ins with the first season, but Id prefer them be subtle like walking by a location you were at, seeing a walker of duck, hints of the past in character dialouge etc. Molly wont be coming back- that would be way to unrealistic and uncharacteristic of tt.

I don't know. I think the problem they'll have with a second season is that they obviously can't bring Lee back. If the new protagonist is going to be someone completely new, they'd have to either start them from the very beginning of the zombie apocalypse or introduce them to the players somewhere in the middle of it so that they're basically at the same point where Lee and company are at in Episode 5. And there are some obvious problems with both approaches. If we start again from the beginning, it will feel like going backward and repeating a lot of the same ground we already covered in Season 1. If we're just thrown into a whole new group of survivors without seeing the journey they took to get to that point, it will be too much exposition to dump on players and we still won't be as invested in their personal stories as we would be if we had actually played through those events.

Picking up with one of the surviving characters from Season 1 makes sense because we're already acquainted with their back story and it allows us to just pick up right where the last season left off. That basically means Clementine, Christa and Omid, or Molly (Vernon seemed like kind of a minor character who's already served his purpose, so I kind of doubt we'll be seeing him again). I wouldn't expect the timeline to advance too far ahead, and I think there would probably be some resistance to making the main character a little girl. So I don't think it'll be Clem. If it's going to be anyone from Season 1, I would bet on Molly. She was a likable character and again, her story left the most unanswered questions to build upon later.

How would it be unrealistic? It's not your classic comic book scenario of a character just being brought back to life since in no case is she ever confirmed to be dead. And we've already seen that she's capable of getting out of tight spots on her own. It would, by no means, be the most unrealistic situation a character has managed to survive in any incarnation of The Walking Dead, whether it be the video game, the comic, or the TV show. Again, look at Tyreese.

You may be right, and I certainly wouldn't be surprised if they decided to just leave Molly's story at that. On the other hand, I think odds are just as good that we'll see more of her in Season 2. Like I said before, you don't usually go so far out of your way to keep a character from dying for no reason. If the writers wanted Molly dead, they could have easily shown her actually die like they did with everyone else. We didn't see her die, and her "death" didn't really have any major impact on the story, so it's not really cheating the players in any way to bring her back. If anything, I'd be a bit disappointed if we didn't see more of her in one way or another. As it is, her story feels a little incomplete.

I'm fairly new to the forums, yes. Kenny is the only one in the game, who I think survived their 'death'.

Think about this, the group were on a roof. He could've easily gone down some stairs or something...

You know there were 2 seperate deaths of kenny depending on whether you killed ben in episode 4... in the other one he is boxed in in a allyway with NO where to run/ hide or anything. So in concluson he is dead.

I'm sure that they will hint at characters, places, or events. Some things might even make cameo appearances.

It could be as minor as a wrapper of the Everett Pharmacy, or as major as Kenny having a supporting role.

I'm expecting to see Omid, Christa, Molly, Vernon, the cancer patients, and maybe even Glen again. Lilly's fate is uncertain, and that's the way it should be left. Everyone else is most certainly dead.

I seem to remember hearing Kenny groaning in pain while the zombies were attacking him. His story has been concluded.

It's not? I mean, obviously anyone who was killed can't come back, but people who are still alive have come back in the comic before. Look at the group that left the prison. They all came back. Hell, Morgan appeared in the first issue and came back like 80 issues later! There's no reason Vernon, Molly, Lilly or even Kenny (if he lived) couldn't come back in some capacity, though I agree that they would need a good story-driven reason to do it.

    Like someone else said...Tyreese

If Kenny somehow fought his way through the zombies with a melee weapon (I am not sure if he had one) like Lee did, then he could get out of the alley and escape.

Something kind of unrealistic, but what if Clementine ran into Carl at some point in season two?

Tyreese did and he was trapped in a room in the dark! Andrew was heard screaming as if he was being eaten yet he survived, TV SHOW SEASON 3 SPOILERS! Merle ran into glenn again and andrea ran into him in woodbury, the show is being pretty unrealistic then if that is your logic.not to mention the chances of the one person who found rick happened to be in a group which had his wife and child?!? seriously the chances of that were like 1 in a billion.

Actually, Vernon and Molly might appear. It seems odd the way they showed up and then left, leaving both of their stories relatively unexplored. I mean, for all we know we could play as Vernon and the Cancer survivors.

we dont know if Lee really died. Clem could have shot at the wall and Lee had maybe a flu.

we didnt see that Lilly died or Glenn, i hope TellTale will see this discussion and take some notes for the next game

    This! So much this!

I didn't spend time on the train teaching Clem how to shoot for nothing. Not only that, the girl stabbed The Stranger in the arm with a meat cleaver and then SHOT HIM IN THE HEAD while he and I were struggling around the room.

I spent my time making sure the girl could do what she needed to do to survive. There's no way in hell she just shot the wall at point-blank range after becoming such a crack shot.

EDIT: As for Lilly, she's not dead, she's in Woodbury. That's where her comic-book counterpart ended up and I'm pretty sure Lilly mentions going to Woodbury at some point during the game.

The game uses the comic book universe, but what you said is roughly true.
