Molly Hypocrities
*Hypocrites* Silly typo.
I find it odd whenever people complain of Lee's death, several people come out of the woodwork saying "It's the Walking Dead, it's not supposed to be happy. Were you expecting a fairytale ending. Blah, blah, blah."
Yet, a lot of these people want Molly of all people to appear in season 2, and some want her as a protagonist.
I call bullshit. Molly is an upbeat character. She's like Glenn and Omid, she offers a lightened tone to the series. To keep her would go against the "dark and grittiness" everyone claims the Walking Dead is all about. And to make her a protagonist would really ruin shit.
Yes, she has a fairly dark past, but her personality blows that out of the water. Even her clothing is colorful. So she contrasts everything that the Walking Dead apparently stands for. Not to mention she's extremely unrealistic when it comes to her physical capabilities.
Even in Playing Dead episode, one of the writers said they had to use characters like Molly sparingly because they ruin the dark feel of the game.
So how can you criticize people complaining of Lee's death, when you want a light-hearted character as the protagonist for season 2?

When was Molly upbeat? And who wants her back as a protagonist? New Season, New cast and hopefully new area. Maybe we could do Chicago, or Philly.... Or will that always be sunny thing be a problem for there.
Upbeat?
WTF? She reminds me of Mister from Stakeland......
Lighten the mood? funny episode 5 seemed to lighten the mood more for me than the other episodes ... minus all the deaths..
I wear orange clothes occasionaly too, I must have rainbows coming right outta my ass! [as larry would put it haha]
And the reason I would give for Molly being the protagonist would be that she is the character in season one who closely resembles a blank slate
To be fair, thatcould also gives her more room to evolve. Seeing a lighter character slowly being ground down by their circumstances might be an interesting basis for a character arc.
Also, the impression I get is that a lot of her lightness of spirit is kind of bravado.
She got her shit figured out. She knows how to get around and find supplies without any problems. How boring and generally disappointing that would be for me. I want a regular person, the average Joe that is scared and doesn't know exactly what to do in every situation and when he/she's confronted with something really dangerous or serious. Someone who is not lost to the world and ways of the apocalypse and still has heart and hope. Someone who wants to survive not only because they don't want to die but also to start a new life when "all this blows over". Someone who doesn't kill anyone without hesitation.
She's pretty fucking upbeat, dude. Not as much as Omid and Glenn, but she's up there. The writers said it themselves.
EXACTLY! She would make a pretty bland protagonist, being able to climb like a ninja.
This is why killing off Lee was a terrible idea. Now that we're several months into the apocalypse, the world has weeded out all the "weak" people and only the most resourceful, craziest, and strongest people survive, so in essence, the new protagonist of season 2 will either have to wake up because of a cliche coma or lived in a shelter and avoided all the madness (like the Wanderer from Fallout 3 coming out of Vault 101).
Should've just kept Lee, though.
She's upbeat because the writer said so, smartass.
Your post is dripping with sar-cas-m

Quite frankly, she's one of two characters I'd be afraid to be around.
Doesn't change the fact I like her... but.... it's more a healthy respect for her ability to kick ass than anything.
Not to mention annoying as hell and funny looking :P
