"There were times when you a'int.." *Possible Spoilers*

edited November 2012 in The Walking Dead
So we all know that quote from Kenny near the end of episode 4 and I am calling complete BS. I had to restart a whole new game because of some crash that erased my previous game and so I sent Lee out to be the best bro for Kenny. I saved Duck at Hershels, I gave Duck AND Kenny food (you can't give Katjaa any), I defended Duck at the pharmacy, I helped Kenny kill Larry, I DID let Kenny shoot Duck but that should not have affected his decisions at the end of episode 4, I told Kenny we should leave MULTIPLE times, I gave duck the crackers AND water, I killed the boy in the attic to spare Kenny the thought of killing a Duck look a like, I told Kenny to kick Ben's ass, I did NOT kill Ben, I left Lily on the road, I did not fight Kenny AT ALL! I helped him steal from the car at the end of episode 2 and I did NOTHING but stick up for Kenny the entire game and he still has the BALLS to say I rarely stood up for him. Is this a bug or does he say that REGARDLESS of how close you two are? If that's the case then the writers need to rethink that for any potential sequel.

I do not understand what I have to do to get Kenny to like me the entire time.

So I ask you guys if he tells you that you rarely stuck with him at all no matter what or what.

You did pretty much the same as me, apart from I shot his son- which has some impact, but he told me I was his best friend and he'd always stick by me until the end. So, I think it's a bug.

My game was randomized, I had a problem with saving and choices carrying over, but, the only way, that I think, you can get Kenny to come along with you is by telling him that Clementines like family. He'll understand and decide to go with you.

That IS a big question all Kennylovers should ask themselves. A question with no logical answer.
I fell for you %100. I did all the things you mentioned except helping Kenny to kill Larry. But still he is... nah, I gave up talking about those moustaches.

Me and him were bros and he said,

"You've always been there for me, what kind of friend would I be if I didn't help you"

Oh I also told Kenny AND Kat that I was going to prison (I saved Carley SPECIFICALLY so I could let people know who I was before Lilly does that for me.)

Oh well I guess it was a bug or maybe Kenny and I were just never meant to be bros. Oh well, a nice 5 part game that was worth the time and patience.

I've mentioned this in a few other threads - I think some of Kenny's dialogue options are just plain bugged. I mean, there are people who only think "what have you done for me lately," but in this situation, the speed at which he changes from best bud to mortal enemy is fucking alarming.

I'd actually kind of like to get some word from TTG on this, but I assume they have bigger, more exciting things to do than placate my need to have Kenny love me.

you have to chose ... when he finds no boat. in fact, you have to stay quiet the entire scenario with the boat. also, you have to tell kenny to make a vote on kicking ben out. you have to chose yes. getting clementine to vote will make kenny side with you even more, as then only you and kenny agree on kicking ben out. killing ben is another plus for kenny.

I didn't give a flying pig about Kenny, but I was nice to his wife and son. I just chose the option, "Clementine is my family", and he went with me.

Bro, kenny was cool before episode 3. Now he's just plain mean.

    The Episode 5 Kenny mean?

I had the opposite scenario. I choose against kenny plenty and he says i sticked with him when it mattered most :D

as for OP: you mentioned some things that are anti-kenny. such as not helping him out on killing duck or saving ben.

yeah exactly but apparently you can get kenny to say yes to you without even having to say anything

I did less than you and i still got the bro speech. (only affecting decision is keeping ben alive or not in my save, I kept him alive in the end)

You got the shooting wrong btw, you're meant to shoot duck (he thanks you for this again in episode 5 if he comes with you) and have him shoot the attic boy.

The whole pity kill of a younger boy thing comes to its final fruition if Ben survives episode 4, as Kenny finally makes the quick decision to give Ben (a younger boy technically) a pity death. Course, being a hick he never thought about running back inside, a fail on TTs writing imo

Kenny's a selfish biggot, it's not bad writting it's just how he is. When he kills someones father he doesn't understand the hypocrosy of saying "Your murderer Lilly!" he's a jackass but at least he redeems himself...even if the idiot could've lived himself, I had the feeling he was just tired of himself.

I don't understand how Kenny comes to that decision. In my first playthrough, I sided with Kenny all the time, except I didn't drop Ben. And I didn't take the food in the car. I abstained from voting also. He didn't hesitate to come with me.

Then in my second playthrough, I did the same things, but I shot the girl in the street, I fought Kenny on the train and won, and I told Kenny to kill the walker boy in the attic. And he started talking about he's a Christian man and if I'd be there for him because there were "plenty of times where I ain't been". But for those last two things I did, it said that those were helping him so idk.

Kenny's weird. I don't know how he came to the conclusion of if we're pals or not, but it might be a bug.

Most of the ones you mentioned (see bold) are anti Kenny.

Yeah, I know they were. But I also thought the make or break decision for Kenny is whether or not you kill Larry. I didn't think those would matter much. I guess they did, though. I did fight Kenny the first time, but I let him win. And after Kenny kills the boy in the attic, it tells me I helped him. :/
