<SPOILERS> Most emotional moment from the whole series?

Hello there,

I was interested to know what moment from the whole first series was the strongest for you and why?

There were many strong moments and just the fact that it makes me feel something is enough to know this game is really well done. I can only name a couple games where I felt attached to the characters and really cared about them like this.

For me, I probably have to go with the moment when Duck is about to die and you have to talk to Kenny about stopping the train. We knew Duck was about to die almost whole episode and the atmosphere was built so well. Also the music made it even more sad. When I was walking on the train towards Kenny I knew it will not be an easy discussion. When he simply refused anything bad about Duck at first (even though he does know he is dying) I really felt bad for him even though we had our moments. But I was also pretty proud to manage and talk him down calmly, without fighting him. It even made our relationship better I think.

Interested to hear your moments.

Haha yeah, some moments made me cry a little too and that only proves how well its done. One of the best games for me this year, probably ever, too.

Im quite sure you heard about it but if you liked this you might also like Heavy Rain for PS3. Many mechanics are very similar but Heavy Rain is a full priced game with very good graphics. Not that graphics matter or WD game has bad, not at all. Now it should be very cheap as it is few years old.

Actually, I was most depressed after Lee got bitten. For some reason the deaths in Episode 5, didn't sadden me, even though I lost my two favorite characters, Ben and Kenny. It's like Vernon said, I didn't feel much.

My 2 favourite characters were : Kenny and Lee , when i was thinking at em'i was imaging a bro team , a very tough team that will never be lost , but i was wrong , when Kenny died , i tough he escaped because , idk why , i didnt heared any screams from him , because when your bitten , you will scream because of the pain , he shooted Ben , and then nothing , just quiet , idk why but i have the feeling he will come back in the season 2

Clem crying when you say you cant find her parents. :'(

There are so many. Talking Kenny down in the train, the Duck dying scene, and of course Lee dying. Another scene that really was heartbreaking for me was finding an undead Fivel (this is the name confirmed to be the walker boy's name that was found in the game files) all emaciated in the attic and having to put him down.

Clem crying when you say you cant find her parents. :'(

And what affected me more, was when lee reaches out for her, she shuts him down and turn and gives him her back. he stands back and sit at the couch and sleep. This scene was touching.

But my most emotional scene was the ending between them. Too many things happening on the screen at the same time, teaching her how to escape, help her fight the cop, and saying your last words. I wished there was an option for Lee to tell Clem that he loves her. :(

That would've made it for me.

Burying the starved kid next to his dog was the most emotional moment for me. The ending couldn't top that IMO.
  • edited November 2012
Yeah, I think it was burying the kid too. The finale was rough, but I peaked there.

When clem had to shoot lee definitely, followed by Kenny's "death".

The ending of episode 5 made me cry and is defiantly my most emotional moment in the game. I still feel depressed and can't get that last scene out of my head, this game has really affected me.
    RIP Lee Everett :'(

    Most emotional...

Carley's death. Because I felt a really wide range of emotions from denial in thinking I could somehow save her, and anger at Lilly for being such a bitch, then coming to the Telltale forums to see if there was anything I could do, then depression and finally acceptance. I probably went through the whole 5 stages of grief over a video game character just because she was that well written, had a really great voice actress and her death was completely out of the blue.

Next would definitely be the ending. Lee and Clems last moments together were so touching. But I could see it ending on a sad note so I was prepared for it, unlike Carley's. So I wouldn't have changed it.

EDIT - I cried more at the ending to episode 5 than any other part in the series. I stilll choose Carley's death because of the different impact it had.

I think Kenny's 'death' touched me. I don't know, he was one of my favorite characters and like Lee I cried. Lee's death made me sob like Clementine, though.

Had to have been the finale, there were many sad and depressing moments but that was the one which tipped me other the edge and brought out the Manly tears.

Having to tell a nine year old girl that she has to kill the only person she has left was just devastating.

I did get quite emotional when Andy at the dairy farm grabbed Clementine by the hair.

I'm just worried that season 2 won't be as good, they raised the bar so high...not sure how they can top what they did in this season.

For me was Episode 3, when Lilly left in the RV. I was kind of sweet on her because she was so hard core and felt that if anyone would keep the team alive it was her. Even after she killed Carley I let her back in the RV with us. I was all thinking, "hey her dad is dead now, time for Lee to put the moves on her". So when she said come with me I was "hell yeah", then I watched her drive away. :(

I was strong throughout every episode...

I was extremely angry when Carley died... Upset when Katjaa died... Nearly dead inside when Duck died, stayed strong though... Depressed over the attic child... Shed baby tears over Ben, manly tears over Kenny...

There's this one scene though, with Clementine in the end that stuck with me... One line broke me completely:

    Lee: "I'll... miss you."

I just couldn't hold it after that, I haven't cried that much in my life. Like at that point it hit me, Lee and Clementine will never see each other ever again. Never talk about haircuts, swinging her on a swing set, never laugh over salt licks with her. Only hope is in the after life... I suppose? This game broke me. Kudos to the writers.

    ...

    Clementine: "I'll miss you too."

Kenny's reaction to his wife and child's death, his teary face touched my soul. Also, the final events of Ep. 5, Lee's final moments and Clem crying, followed with the awesome credits song, I cried like a baby.

I'll qualify this to start by saying I'm quite an emotional man. This game didn't touch me emotionally much until Episode 5. The final few moments with Clem made me well up. It wasn't the story as such as they were animated characters, it was more the emotions it stirs up in yourself. anyone who has lost somebody or cared for somebody enough to understand that longing, knows how it feels to be torn away. that played on those memories. very good!

I was intrigued by the ending though..Clem seeing two people (I think we're supposed to assume Christa and Omid, but I doubt it somehow) on the horizon....here we go episode 2.

That moment when Mark was crawling on the ground at the farm and when we found out they are cannibals, just when we were about to eat dinner.... and the whole part left of that episode after it.... That atmosphere there was just so tense and everything that happened... it teared my nerves apart...

It's kind of a toss up for me between three scenes, either when Carly dies, when Andy grabs Clem by the hair, or when Lee was saying goodbye to Clem. The first two made me act with my heart. There was no thinking in the responses that came up I was furious and knew what I wanted to do even before the choices came up. When Lee was saying goodbye though, Clem said "Don't leave me" he voice broke just a bit and I lost it. That was probably the hardest part of the game for me to play through. The other parts really showed me strength of emotions I didn't know I could have and least of all about characters in a video game but the last scene with Clem and Lee was a more lasting emotion.
I have some minor issues with episode 5 but the ending sequence was spot on from being reunited with Clem till she leaves you very emotional.

    Totally :D

Lee's final moments, when he got all ill'ish and started talking in his death deep voice.. that was really touching.

The game made millions of dollars. Compared to others, Telltale is a small company. The next game will most likely have better scenarios, more choices, and of course, more outcomes and branching storylines. It might not be as emotional as Lee and Clem's story, but it'll be a hell of a ride. I bet you.

Lee trying to get up in the last scene... You could really see the man try, just for her sake, knowing that it was the end and he couldn't go on.

    1. Clem saying goodbyes and Lee dying. I cried my eyes out ;_;
    2. Ben/Kenny death. Christa scene was not emotional. Ben-haters missed out a lot. That's what you get for hating on Ben D:<

Wow, Im impressed by all of the replies here, as well as the tiny details in many of them. From reading all this I can see that we really enjoyed this amazing game.

I pretty much agree with all of the moments mentioned here as they are all really done well enough to make us care. There is like two or three games ever that made me care about the characters so yeah.

I seriously cannot wait for season 2 as it should be even better or at least as good as the first, judging by the astonishing success the first season was.

Omg yes, that was so depressing to watch, I almost broke my controller by pressing it so rapidly lol but it was to no use :(

This was really important for me as well. For me the realisation that Lee's road had finished and he was done really really hurt.

    Other emotional parts
    Lilly shooting Carely
Talking Kenny into stopping the train, then shooting Duck.

First there was Ben falling from the balcony, Lee lost 2 friends at that moment... and I was just starting to get along with Kenny, I was quite happy with how things were going until I noticed that thing was gonna break and Ben was gonna fall... then realizing I couldn't do shit to help them... ugh =/

And then there's Lee's final moments, especially watching Clem leaving him there.... his final words to her, and how she just kept looking back as she left, almost as if she was hoping he'd somehow get better...

Geez, this game is too sad XD

Kenny and Lee death... I though they could be a Bro team... Like nothing can't hurt them... Together To the end...

Duck's death, from fighting/talking down Kenny all the way to dealing with Duck. Kenny was my bro, and seeing him go through all that was soul crushing. But, it's not better than Lee and Clem in the jewlery store, so I'd say it's a tie between those two moments for me. But the series has been strong throughout.

This scene was the one that made me cry for about an hour. The ending, I didn't cry once. I don't know, I was expecting a better ending. It wasn't that emotional for me.

    The whole ending...
    -Finding Clem's parents
-Looking at Lee's green eyes and pale skin
    -Falling to the ground
-Telling Clem what to do in that deep voice while Clem is just doing what you say in that saddened voice
-The zombie I THOUGHT was going to kill Clem
("yay" moment brought to you by Clem killing a zombie with a bat!)
-Making the decision to tell Clem to leave or kill me.... I chose leave so, she said..
    -"Leeee....." in that voice just made me... oh god ; ____ ;

    Yeah.... ;C

Katjaa holding her son while talking about Doug. It even beats Kenny and Ben in that alley and Lee's final moments.
