Can't compare these games, the Heavy rain story is finished (that's why we see in the Heavy rain lots of endings) , and in The Walking Dead will be continued.
It'd be good if the choices were more like Heavy Rain, but the the production would take much longer. We'd probably see season 2 in 2014 or later if this was the case.

If we had to wait for 2014, I'd be glad to, because it only would mean, that the game would become even more epic.
I cannot remember playing Heavy Rain.
I remember playing the Walking Dead every day.
That is the difference.
TWD game would be a hard game to forget, not because it was good, which was was, but because it is short and the plot is straight forward, oh yeah and the last episode came out at the end of last year unlike Heavy Rain which had the plot of a noir style thriller and was released at the beginning of 2010.
I played HR when it first came out and I remember the game but because there was far more going on in the story I wouldn't remember everything. I could describe every scene in twd from ep1-ep5, not because the game was so great but because the plot is straight forward and short.
For me, I enjoyed both games. Felt a little cheated by TWD at times though, like where the game over rules your choices e.g Lee deciding to try and revive Larry,Kenny bypasses Lee and kills him anyway or when Lee tells the ST Johns he doesn't wan't to go to the dairy farm and Lilly makes Lee go anyway because the plot needs to go in that direction. I thought why give me a choice if I am only allowed to go one direction. That's like me asking you what you want to drink then telling you I only have orange soda or like when Clem asks if she can tell her parents and Lee says "it's not a good idea" and she tells him "you cant tell me what to do". When I played that scene I was like WTF? Why ask me permission for something your gonna do anyway. It would have been better for her to say I can't wait to tell my parents then Lee have the option to say It's not a good idea so she could disagree. But hey that's for another thread.
I liked both games but enjoyed HR more. Found it more gripping and intense. HR definitely won't be a game for everyone but I found it more intense. HR is a much longer game which equals more intense moments and it is far easier to die in Heavy Rain than it is in TWD.
Contrary to popular belief a lot of the button prompt sequences in Heavy Rain aren't actually quick time events. Where as a QTE is a quick flashing prompt with a short reaction time which is used in games like Shenmue or God of War, HR has sequences that are over lapping button prompts which cause a lot of anxiety because you can run out of fingers. What I mean is the game might tell you to press x, then press R2,then triangle, then L2 whilst keeping your finger on the other buttons. The first finger you used to hold down the first button at the beginning of the sequence can be the difference between life or death. The amount of times I got electrocuted because I couldn't reach a button because of the finger I used to start the sequence.
When I played TWD I wasn't as worried about Lee or Clem dying because I knew that the game would replay from the last check point and the game was very straight forward and easy to play. There is no real consequence for failing. The game wasn't designed to be difficult. The developers wanted everyone to finish the game together so they could discuss it on forums whilst waiting for the next episode.
When I played Heavy Rain I was responsible for the lives of 4 characters, Ethan, Madisson, Jayden and Sean and knew that their lives were in my hands. A mistake from me could cost their lives and the game would still continue. I was always worried if I made a mistake because if the saving icon appears you can't go back and replay the scene like you can in TWD which in itself is more intense than most of the the tough choices I made in TWD game.
TWD game's greatest strength is how the game makes you feel. That is also one of HR's
strengths because that game keeps you on the edge of your seat with intrigue and can have you feeling rattled with nervousness.
I have read many times posts about people comparing Heavy Rain to TWD and I think it is legitimate.
If we compare the 2 games they are very similiar: both games have are heavily story driven, strong character development, minor focussed on gameplay mostly quicktime events, many choices.
Now if I compare both games I have to give telltale 1 pluspoint: I got more attached to the characters than I did in Heavy Rain. But if we compare choices, and IMPACT of choices TWD falls behind majorly. None of the choices make any difference besides some dialoguechanges or other temporary effects that are NOT "profound and lasting" (like advertised) but they have no influence on the story and no impact on the outcome whatsoever. Heavy rain on the other hand has like.... nearly 20 different endings and results depending on your choices. I think there are 17 different endings alone. This game has truly profound and lasting consequences to your choices - unlike TWD where it seems you only have "the illusion of choice".
Now, I see why that many different endings might not be possible for Telltale, as it would be near impossible and ludicrously expensive to start a 2nd season with that many endings, but at least give us 3 or so different results depending on what we did throughout our game? Or anything at all? I played this game 3 times, with 3 times totally different choices yet everything plays out the same and ends in only 1 ending.
After I played Heavy Rain I immediately played again, and the result was COMPLETELY different. My choices had MAJOR IMPACT. In fact I played it 6 or 7 times and every time it played out differently. The characters ended up totally different and the endings were completely different depending on my choices.
Now, with TWD after only my 2nd playthrough (opposite of 1st playthrough) I noticed there is no point in the choices. Everything feels so minor and temporary I have never seen a single choice that was profound and lasting.
Now, TWD was one of the better games I have played in 2012 due to story and character development. But gameplay and choices are rather poor.
Bottom Line is I wished they would take a route further down to Heavy Rain, where your choices actually altered the outcome.
Anyone with me on this?
I agree. One of the things I didn't like about TWD was when the game made choices for you then judged you, the gamer for them. The best example is when your asked if you want to do a trade with the ST John brothers and go to the dairy. I didn't trust them from the start. I told them I didn't want to go but then Lilly who is the group's de-factor leader made me go anyway then the kidnapper tells me I fucked up at the end of the game because I took Clementine to the dairy and put her at risk. That kind of made me feel like shit if i'm honest. It would have been better if the brothers asked Lilly if she wanted to do the trade, the game allowed me to say it's not a good idea and the group took a vote and we went to the farm because I was out voted.
In Heavy Rain if I fucked up it was on me since I had the choice to go one way or another. No smoke and mirrors, real freedom to choose how to do things. Ep4 is another example of what I didn't like, I told Kenny that looking for Clem's parents was a priority for me at the end of ep3 but in ep4 Kenny's plan of finding a boat was prioritised, making me feel like a wanker for getting Clementine's hopes up in ep3 when I told her we would look for her parents when we got to Savannah. No wonder she got pissed off and set out to find them by herself and if you try to lie to Clem she becomes a member of the X men and reads your mind and looks into the future to call you out on your lie. It's hilarious that she buys the stranger on the radio's bull shit but knows your lying even if you haven't lied to her before in the game.
Another WTF moment was when Clem asks if she can tell her parents and Lee says "it's not a good idea" and she tells him "you cant tell me what to do". When I played that scene I was like WTF? Why ask me permission for something your gonna do anyway. It would have been better for her to say I can't wait to tell my parents then Lee have the option to say It's not a good idea so she could disagree

With new generation of telltale games being seen as innovative and if watch interview by them swear they invented the wheel even though feel great game but credit where credit is due my argument is just complete copy of Heavy Rain and watered down version
Gameplay
Quick time Events
Decision making
Hub areas
Timed dialgoue
Choices in dialogue
Interaction with area
Story tailored on decisions
Walking Dead right no Heavy Rain
Story
Movie based
Involving a child
Random deaths
Father/kid relationship
Many different characters
Many twists
Shooter qtes even dream sequence
Conversations can be intense or just laid back hows your day
Sound like walking dead nope again heavy rain
Why called it water down version not full copy
Heavy rain decisions actually change next scene not just differ the conversation
You can fail qte's and story will continue with your mistake making every scene more intense
Better graphics
Original script not just copying tv show
Lots of different endings
Heavy Rain release date 2010 won many awards and received high reviews and sells
Walking Dead release date 2012
Thread made after seeing interview where creators where talking about how creative and innovative there game was and how never game like it and they invented all new gameplay mechanics.
Well I love walking dead but i'm no fanboy ignorant to the source material and will call spade a spade credit where credit is due
Feel explained my feelings bring the hate whatever but at least tried to show you why think this your thoughts?
Geez I like heavy rain but walking dead is just as great and noticed how you left out the walking dead's rewards, reviews, and sales lol

So the answers will be skewed to the favour of TwD.

How long can it possibly take them to make a single 2-3 hour episode? They would hit diminishing returns very quickly.
I don't know, just sayin' I don't care how long it would take

Sigh Bring it on, I guess.
Down vote this bump I ship it and Lee confirmed for episode 96
Really, TWD V Davids Shit fest?
