In general-what happens when there is no longer food

edited November 2012 in The Walking Dead
Show,game,whatever.

Eating food out of a can. only certain things like canned food etc have long expiration dates so what happens when all that runs out? How do the humans survive?

Sorry for the dumb question but its been on my mind lately.

We all become farmers. Grow crops, harvest crops, eat crops, rinse and repeat.

    There are no longer people.

The only thing that changes is instead of buying someone elses farmed, processed and butchered products, everyone has to do it for themselves. Animals can be hunted or raised and slaughtered and many things grow wild that can be consumed in the short term before a farm or garden is up and running. Hell, my wife can and has made her own potato chips from garden potato's so even junk food is still a possibility.

Humans can eat plants. Or they can turn to cannibalism. It is hard to "run out of food". You can fish, you can plant crops, you can eat plants, etc. I doubt anyone would starve to death who knows anything about agriculture. Of course if you lived all your live in a city and never knew where corn grew besides in cans of a supermarket then yea, you'll have trouble not starving.

Is it possible for the animals to become undead if they are bit?

Afaik so far I have never seen an animal get zombified, neither in the TV Series nor in the Comics or Novels.

I think it's a "virus" (I use this term loosely as it isn't 100% explained) that only infects humans.

    In the game's universe, no.

In typical zombie lore and TWD universe the answer is no. It is probably an accurate portrayal because many virus's/diseases don't cross over between humans and most types of animals.
