How to live without money

Can someone please explain to me how anyone can live like this? Granted they are surviving but good lord:eek::eek::eek:

Has the government even offered any help for these people?

Have you even considered that they are happier there? Living far away from normal society that most likely makes them sick?

I couldn't imagine eating out of the super market dumpster but they do throw a ton of food away that is still good to eat. Here in Germany almost every super market has it's own bakery and it has to be filled until the shop closes down and after that it's thrown away. 10 minutes earlier it could have been sold at full price now it's garbage.
And that's the same for vegetables and other stuff.

Yes however if the public where willing to get a kickstarter campaign launched to get them the funding they needed to get there own shelter they could then allow more people to move in and that would stop them having to be homeless.

I don't think you realize that most, if not all, of these folks do this as a choice. It's definitely different, but believe it or not, some folks enjoy living this way. It's a lot harder, but there is a sense of freedom that comes from knowing that you don't have to rely on a corporation or the government for your survival.

It's definitely a shame that food is thrown away like that. At the supermarket where I worked, food was never thrown away. The owner was a nice guy who would give the left overs to the employees who had the hardest living conditions at the end of the night.

The most I've ever thought about doing to save money from supermarket waste is to recycle cooking grease for a diesel car. I gave up on that thought when I watched Mythbusters and found out how much work was in it. That and I don't have a diesel car. :p

This thread sounds like Communist propaganda. I have my eye on you.

Yeah! Can't the government step in and tell these people how to live? They obviously don't know what is good for them, so lets dictate how they SHOULD be living!

Everything can be Communist propaganda if you try hard enough. People kept on thinking Tony Stark was a Communist in the Iron Man comics and he's probably the epitome of corporate capitalism as far as the Marvel universe is concerned.

I would enjoy living this way considering I eat garbage all the time anyway, but I know my fiancee would rather die first. OCD and germs.

I kind of wish my old job would do something with our thrown out food instead of throwing it out every hour or so. =/ Back on topic I don't see how these people are necessarily free if they're dumpster diving for food unless they grow their own food too. I mean, technically they're surviving off of someone else's work which would in turn be someone else's money.

You know, hippies might have been on to something. For one thing, they always seem a lot happier than everyone else.

A subcultural imperative to be high and get laid constantly will do that. Being a hippy wasn't lame until the go-go 80's, just like being punk wasn't lame until the neo-junkie 90's. Youth movements change culture, then stagnate and outlive their usefulness. It's always sad to see (or worse, be part of), but happens every time.

    That's probably just the drugs.

    Or the constant thread necromancy.

Looks like an anarchist squatter camp. They don't like the fuzz, and the fuzz don't like them.

They don't really like government support even if they could get it. Although I know a few hypocrites who still take it, i.e. get government 'education' ;).

However, don't get on the bad side of the black bloc anarchists... They might toss a rock or a Molotov your way....

Pretty much anyone who doesn't agree with them is called a 'fascist' (although they probably don't even know what an actual 'fascism' really is). They don't seem to have a problem with working along side actual 'communists' though. I mean literally, card carrying communist movements, LOL. "The enemy of the 'fascists' is my friend (even if the idea of communism as Marx defined it is itself a form of government!).

Oh, no they aren't happy... They are vengeful and hate anyone who isn't like them! ;)

You must know different hippies then. All the hippies I knew at Berkeley were super happy and also helped out with keeping the Occupy movement going when people had to drop to go to class and stuff.

Well, this is going nowhere fast.

    Or rather, was.

And since I apparently have to remind some people - please don't necro threads for no good reason. kthxbai.
