Where can I find more adventure games?

edited January 2008 in General Chat
Optional Precursor:
I got Sam&Max: Hit The Road when i was about 10 or 11, and have been loving the series and patiently waiting a new arrival ever since. I always read on fan forums about a game being in the works, then the project being canceled by Lucas Arts. Needless to say I was super excited to find out it was released on telltale, and even more excited to see there is more gameplay, as its a continually running series! I really hope this game continues for many seasons, adventure games are so hard to come by now... i used to pop in the Secret Of Monkey Island every once in a while, but can no longer find my copy...and my floppy copies of the original monkey island are long gone, along with the rest of the "LucasArts Classic Games Pack". I bet that box along with the floppy copies would be worth something... at least sentimental value to the times when adventure games reigned, and there was good humor and fun in gaming :P.

Question:
Are there any new adventure games out? Anything worth checking out, even if they're "old"?

Thanks,

Justin

Well, other than the occasional niche titles for PC, there's a whole bunch of adventure games for the DS, like the Phoenix Wright Series, Touch Detective 1 and 2 1/2, Trace Memory, and Hotel Dusk. There's also the Zack and Wiki game for Wii. Also they are gonna release a Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law game in teh same vein as the Phoenix Wright games for PS2, PSP, and Wii later this month.

Well last I heard (and even on Best Buy's site) it says Jan 15th for release. Tho it seems like Gamestop.com says it's gotten it and is shipping it out. But until I see it on shelves myself, I'll stay skeptical.

Not saying that you or the website is mistaken, just like to see things with my own eyes before I believe it.

We went by Capcom's press release. I say give it a few days from the press release to see it in stores.

This press release is from Capcom U.S.A.'s website. If you'd like to register for the site, please click here
CAPCOM® ENTERTAINMENT DELIVERS JUSTICE WITH SUPER-STAR LAWYER HARVEY BIRDMAN, ATTORNEY AT LAW
The Greatest Winged Third-Rate Superhero-Lawyer Finally Hits Shelves...In Game Form
SAN MATEO, Calif. — January 8, 2008 — Capcom® Entertainment, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system and the Nintendo Wii™ video game system is now available at retail. Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law is rated T for Teen and carries an MSRP of $39.99 for PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and Wii™, and an MSRP of $29.99 for PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system.

Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law is an interactive fiction game that merges the fun and mayhem of the popular Adult Swim TV show with Capcom’s unique style of adventure gameplay. Each case is a self-contained story, incorporating the characters, settings, and most importantly, the off-beat humor that Harvey Birdman fans have come to expect.

Over the course of the game, players must guide Harvey through a series of odd and comical cases. In order to prove his client’s innocence, Harvey must explore the scene of the crime, gather evidence, talk with other cartoon characters, occasionally have drinks with opposing council, and of course, tear holes –no matter how ridiculous - in the testimony provided by the witnesses for the prosecution.

I just want to reiterate the recommendation for Zack & Wiki on Wii. It's a gem of a game with some really devious puzzles.

yea, there are some good adventure games floating around. though none seem as good as some of the old stuff. (S&M aside, of course)

Ah. See didn't realize the "announced" release was the 8th. Shoulda known not to trust Best Buy's site. I even tried (briefly) looking on capcom.com but quit when I found their store page and it didn't give a date there. :)

Anyway should be at least in gamestops by now.

Picked up Harvey Birdman. Basically it's Phoenx Wright Lite. Cases are pretty short (got through 1st 2 in an hour. 5 cases in all). Pretty funny but no Stephen Colbert as Phil Ken Sebben. :/
