Extend answering time

Is there anyway I can extend the time to answer in the dialogues? Sometimes I can't even get to think before the time goes out and your'e silent...

that's the whole point of those timed answering times, they want you to pick your immediate instinctive choice. it would be pointless if you had time to think it through ..

Right I get that. But that's not really what I meant by thinking through... Sometimes I just can't get to understand the answers... I don't normally speak English if that's an excuse...

Well, playing a game in a language that you aren't particularly fast with (you do seem to speak it very well - or write it, as is the case) is sort of a bad idea to begin with. Is there no way to change the dialogue options to read in your own language so that you can figure them out a bit faster? I'm not sure if the game's been translated at all; I'm a native speaker, so I never had a reason to change the language.

At any rate, yeah, they're supposed to be frustratingly short so that you never have too long to dwell on one answer. I find it creates a much more authentic experience, especially if you only have one playthrough.

press escape which brings up the game menu if you desperately need a few more seconds.

personally -with english only being my 3rd language- I had no problems with the timer. In fact I thought it might have been a tad too long for what it tried to achieve.

The one time I found this annoying was in Ep 4 after meeting Molly and the walkers come back.

Molly books it and as she's climbing the building Lee has the option to say something.

Unfortunately the timer was so quick I couldn't even read the options and just ended up silent.

    :(

I know they want to put the pressure to answer vary fast and I get all that stuff but in my case I have a hard time with these type of games because im dyslexic and reading is a huge weak point for me. I usually pause other games to read the text or take my time with rpg games and just read everything and ya it takes forever. Im just wondering if there is a mod or something that will extend the time. ya i know it might be considered cheating in a way but I really want to enjoy this game but im turned off a bit by the timing.

There should be an option to either extend the time a couple of more seconds or drop it out altogether in trivial conversation scenes.

I did had a couple of times when I couldn't say what I wanted because I had to concentrate on what the person was saying and looking at what my responses were, and time ran out before I found the answer I wanted to say. Some answers were more tempting than others, and the time limit didn't really help me focus. At least the more dramatic scenes gave your plenty for time to consider what to say.

Perhaps Telltale will consider tweaking this game mechanic a little for Season 2?

You're not supposed to concentrate on what they say as you're making your choice, consider it background banter. It wouldn't feel right if everyone just stood around for 20 seconds in silence waiting for you to decide what you want to say.

Twenty seconds would seem ridiculous, you're right.

I was only hoping that we'd be given a couple of more seconds to react. In my situation I have a hearing disability, and the fact that the subtitles tends to disappear when the dialogue choices show up (especiallywhile the person is still talking), leaving me thinking that I can't make a response until I know for sure what the person is talking about, and by then the time is up.

Guess I should have mentioned about my disability beforehand, sorry.

it has been discussed before, but i think there probably should be accessibility options in season 2 (including the option to change the controls) such as a no timer option and text to voice for the responses and even bigger text, i wouldn't have them on, but if the game is basically unplayable for people without these options it would improve the experience for them, even though the timed responses are an important aspect of the game they are pointless if you cant actually respond in time

Play the game in windowed mode. Every time a timed dialogue selection comes up, simply click anywhere outside of the window. The game will now be paused, giving you as long as you want to decide.
