Do you have to buy episode 1 of season 1 to play season 2

I had the unfortunate luck to not play season 1 of the Walking Dead due to several issues, why I couldn't afford it previously earlier in the year. to compensate I chose to watch a walkthrough of the game capturing the story element. With season 2 coming and enough spare cash i figured that I should buy the next season, but I realized it may be mandatory to purchase the first episode on my console since other episodes were added via dlc. So I am worried that i must pay buy episode 1 to play season 2 if it comes on dlc. If you know whats going on with this please tell me :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Dude, watching it isn't at all the same. But they haven't announced anything at all about season 2 yet. I doubt you'd HAVE to buy season 1 to be able to play season 2, but it'll certainly be a better experience if you do...

Plus, season 2 isn't coming out for a few months at least, and it'll be likely closer to a year before we see its release, so you'll have plenty of time to save up again.

They aren't remotely close to even releasing info about a season 2 yet I'd think. No, there's no way they would limit season 2 to only the people who've played the first.

That said it's going to be at least a year so you might as well buy season 1 and actually experience it. Watching it on youtube it just isn't the same obviously.

Yes i have been considering buying it but i feel it just won't have the same emotional impact had on many gamers. Since i had watched all episodes by a walkthrough and know what'll happen. If it is revealed that you must buy season one to play episode 2 , well i have no choice to buy the first season which i don't mind that much, since i'll unknowingly build up season 2, to the my tailored experience.

I have a feeling that for people that didn't play season 1; they will take the most popular choices made and give those to you. That is considering that the story is the same and they aren't starting a new one.

Naah i think they give you a option like Good Lee, Dick Lee or Whatever Lee.
Something like that. But i think after a couple of months there will be a discount for season 1.

since season two will require all the choices made in the first season its mandatory to buy season 1

This has not been confirmed(and was directly mentioned as speculation by TT) and even if it was, it would probably generate random story decisions like the game does if you skip episodes.

A season pass is just what it is...a "season". I find it hard to fathom they would require an existing set of files to play the new story. That would be unprecedented.

I've played the first season and loved it regardless of the fact that i already knew what would happen
