So TellTales Walking Dead was just blamed for the Sandy Hook Elementary Massacre

edited December 2012 in The Walking Dead
Was watching my local news, and they blatantly mentioned games with violence and what not and looked at telltales walking dead, among other games on shelves this holiday season at gamestop.

Just makes me want to puke when video games are used as blatant scapegoats, when films, books, and music are completely left Scott free.

Older generations blame what they don't understand. It used to be The Beatles, then it became Rock Music, now they blame videogames.

But the fact that a man with serious mental issues could just buy automated rifles has nothing to do with it.

    Enuff politics!

It drove me sick how CNN was talking about his 2 favorite videogames, Starcraft, and Warcraft 3.

I felt bad for the CNN reporter, because they tried to paint those games as super violent, even though those 2 specific games are probably one of your LEAST violent games on the market right now.

I'm sure they wanted to use COD, or Battlefield instead as a scapegoat.

I agree with you on that wholeheartedly, and so will likely everyone else on the forums since we're all at least casual gamers. There's far more to it than just playing video games. People were doing messed up shit like this long before video games were invented. If someone has a disposition towards violence, he has it regardless of whether or not he plays video games.

Yeah, because TWD is really encouraging and glorifying murder.

They've proven that most violent video games do NOT cause violent tendancies like that, it's something else that the person has wrong with them, not that they play violent video games.

"What? You think the gun laws, which enabled the mentally ill person to obtain the weapons used in the shooting, is the reason why this tragedy happened? No no, it's those video games!"

hey man. it aint the guns either. guns dont kill people, its the people who use them that kill. please don't spur a political debate on this forum, it aint necessary.

Wasn't his weapons illegally obtained? I don't honestly know but I remember someone saying that.

And "Windowless", shows house full of windows, and mentions being addicted to a game that just came out...
EDIT:Oh wait, the sun, weren't these the idiots that said the 3DS is a horrible device because people get sick if they use it while driving?

I'm sorry guys, but discussions of this kind tend to get very heated very quickly (especially once the gun control debate starts)... normally we'd let this play out a bit, but I'm closing the thread now. Sandy Hook was an incredibly sad event.
