Excuse Me? GOTY?

I played through all the episodes and enjoyed it. In fact I thought the characters like Lee and Clementine are much more superior than those on the TV series. It was great for its narrative.

But there is an issue with this getting GOTY. Or maybe it just speaks volumes that games this year were so lackluster and mediocre that this won out.
The point is this game lacked game play elements that actually make up a game. It was simply a interactive story with 70% quick time events.Quick time events are one of the lamest and eye rolling game play mechanics you can incorporate in a game. The game also literally holds your hand the whole away through. I would hardly consider that GOTY worthy.

As for choices. They are so artificial. You are given the illusion of choice but in reality you're just taking Path A instead of Path B to get to C. A real choice would be able to prevent someone like Carly from dieing But ultimately every path leads to her death. Or how about a path where Lee doesn't get bitten. How about a path were Kenny doesn't have selective memory where he picks out the one and only event I was against him? Or how about the guy at the end who kidnaps Clementine? He makes all these excuses but if you replayed and corrected all those excuses he made he will always find something different. In other words you really had no choice. The outcome will always be the same.

Was it good? Yeah it was a good interactive animate movie. GOTY? I don't think so.
