Why would Clem grow to LIKE LIKE Ben?

edited January 2013 in The Walking Dead
You know what I'm saying. Why do some of you see the potential for them growing into a love interest, had Ben lived to see her "loving" years?

(And if all you have to say is, there's nobody else left, all I have to say is: NO. Just no.)

Damn you really wanna discuss that shit? I don't see the "potential" for that at all...

I see potential for love interact Ben+Clem at 10 years later, if Ben would't die.

As Clem's adoptive father (i.e. Lee), I now see it as my duty to drop Ben every time in future playthroughs. :p

    but WHY?

I don't see what about Ben would appeal to Clementine romantically. He seems more like the "best friend" who maybe wants to get with her, but she just wants to pat his head and tell him he's "nice."

then again... some women do like to take on a mommy role with their bfs/husbands...

double u is throwing Ben, forget about dropping him.

Yes, he seems her like best friend, because she's a child, but who knows what would be in future, if Ben would alive.

Maybe if Ben grows up and grows a pair. I don't think so, though.

Well if Ben managed to survive he was going to be a stronger person, but Clem is really too young for him. I mean, he's like 17 and Clem is 9. Maybe after a long time, if both managed to stay alive for 7 years, which is very unlikely, especially for Ben :D

I don't think age really matters anymore......given the circumstances =/

and Ben is dead. So it will NEVER happen.

True. How do you think may Clem love anybody again as she loved Lee? (as father)

No! Kenny managed to save him and they are now looking for Clem with Carley!

More seriously: I said IF Ben was alive, and I think age still matters. Maybe Clem could have a crush on Ben in the future since he's the youngest group member, but he's almost an adult, he can look for slightly older women.

So the "desperation" argument? Clem would want Ben as the last possible guy on earth?

eh... I don't think that would be enough.

You can't be choosy in a ZA, who else is she gonna pick kenny? Lol. Mostly she might like ben because he is the closest to her age the rest are adults.

I had idea anyone thought that. Its a good thing he died then, since "stay the fuck away from Ben" would have made for a much less poignant final piece of advice.

No, not only for that. Young girls tend to have crushes with older boys, and Ben is a nice, more or less good looking and older than Clem. The problem is that Ben wouldn't be interested in a 9 year old, boys his age like girls slightly younger than them, but 8 years his way to much.

she will have to move on eventually. She'll love others in the future I'm sure. You can't dwell on it forever you know, Lee wouldn't want Clem to never love another person ever again

    What? Clementine and... Ben?!
I wanna know what kind of weed gives this effect, jajaja. Well, I'm a good "father" - in my game, Ben is long gone. As a hero, of course, if you know what I mean.

    LOL

I would love if someone made one of those memes about that.

Ewwwww. He's at least 8 years older than her. Which means when she's 18 he's 26. You see people doing that and you think he's a dirtbag bordering on pedophilia and she's dumb, naive, and being used. Zombies being everywhere doesn't really change that.

    She says Ben is "nice."

Whenever girls say a guy is "nice," that means they want to pat their heads and be nice to them. Not screw their brains out.

then again, most of you posting are probably older teens/young men who know nothing of women, but take it from a woman: most girls/women who say a guy is just "nice" don't picture him as a suitable partner. you need way more traits than that, including not ditching us when we're in danger.

:/ my boyfriend and I got together at those ages.

we're still together 6+ years later.

Makes sense then that you would think a Clem and Ben pairing is actually an option, then.

Ehh... My best friend's mother was 27, and her father was 19 when she was born. When both partners are over 18, it doesn't matter anymore. It's not "pedophilia" if they are both legally considered as adults.

Still, I don't even want to think about Clementine with Ben, just no. It's too weird and stupid.

Again, I never said she WILL fall in love with Ben, but in the eventuality that both of them survived long enough for Clem to grow up, then MAYBE she could have a crush on him. MAYBE. And if Ben wasn't interested, well, it wouldn't mean nothing.

    are you a moron?

I've been arguing that personality-wise, Clem would never go after Ben.

read posts before you presume to know what people think/feel.

My b. Your first post was a little ambiguous. But then I don't really know who, if anyone, was arguing for Ben and Clem...

If anything, I could see Ben starting to crush on an older Clem, and her patting his head and telling him, "We'll always be friends to the end, Benjamin."

whereupon he'd start whining, I gather..

I was asking zev zev, Kaserkin, and anybody else who saw them as a potential item why they thought Clem would feel romantically towards someone as incapable as Ben... I don't see it. (Not that I don't like him, but he's a weak person, and Clem's strong. Usually that equates to wanting a strong partner, or at least someone semi-capable.)

Well then, I'm glad we agree. Sorry about all that.

Why not? It's another possibility we'll never explore since Benjamin "Ben" Paul is impaled on a railing with a bullet in his head.

no prob. I didn't realize I came across as being in the Clem-crush club, cause quite frankly the only thing heavy on her mind seemed to be finding her parents.

    and drawing leaves, but well.

There's no proof Kenny shot Ben.

Maybe in the end, Kenny pulled the spite of all spites after making sure Lee couldn't witness it:
looked Ben dead in the eye, shot himself in the face, and left a still-living Ben alive to endure the hordes eating him, the nightmare that haunted his waking hours.

    Payback is a b!tch.

Again, Ben is getting alot more capable in ep 5. It's still Ben, but he could get better. I personally don't think either of them will be attracted to each other. All I was writing about is that there is a possibility that it COULD happen. Maybe. In a few years time. Anyway I would prefer a brother/sister relationship between them, which is a lot more probable.

    I would prefer a mother/son relationship.

    And I'm dead serious.

He shot him, since Ben's final words were cut at the same time Kenny shot his bullet, and you can still hear Kenny fighting the zombies after. And I think it was clear that Kenny finally forgave Ben.

Clem is just a little girl, not some kind of badass like the little girl in Kick-Ass. She is naive and doesn't listen to what Lee says: such as "stay in the house". If they were to be totally on their own, Ben and herself could survive only a few days.

Pretty much the sole motivator for Clem to disobey Lee was her parents. Now that she knows they're gone, she has no reason to be unruly like that anymore.

Especially considering "incompitants" isn't a word.
