Details here.

TL; DR:

This thing isn't a hoax, unlike that "Facebook privacy notice" that people have been posing for a while. If you got this email to the email that your FB account is tied to, you're entitled to money or have it donated to the EFF.

...and of course, it went right into my spam folder.

I got one. It's pretty scary actually. Is there anyway to find out whether or not your name or likeness was actually used in advertising?

Any company that used my likeness in advertising would probably see an instant drop in sales.

And also would get sued because I've got Ed from Fullmetal Alchemist as my profile picture.

Same. I've got... a coincidental likeness that is legally distinguishable from... Max.

Just another point to add to my list of reasons that I'm glad I never made a Facebook account for myself.

Facebook is extremely useful. George Takei's page alone means I don't have to sift through dozens of threads at reddit to find the funniest pics of the day.

Significantly more useful than Twitter. For one thing, I didn't have to limit myself to a 140 characters when I described to my Facebook friends how I had accidentally splattered my kitchen (and myself) with peanut butter.

(for those of you who are wondering, I tried to use my hand mixer to stir some natural peanut butter, in which the oil had separated and floated to the top, while it was still in the jar. Nevermind that I didn't notice that the mixer was already turned on before I had plugged it in to the wall.)
