Memory problems - back with a vengeance

After the nice smooth running of Moai Better Blues, I had hoped the days of extreme choppiness and memory overuse were over. But I guess not.

What is it, exactly, that causes Sam & Max games to grow and grow in memory usage until finally the whole system freezes?

    Yeah, I experienced some choppy scenes as well, especially the scene where
    you follow Jurgen into his chamber for the first time...
    it was very glitchy.

    Yeah, episode 203 is the first time I've had a "virtual memory running low" warning pop up. This happened quite a way into the game, after putting something in the trash, but I doubt that particular thing was the cause.
