Sam & Max: Linux woes.

Bought the season 1 disc plus downloads thing the other day. With intent to play through wine and relive my adventure gaming youth. Seems all is not going to plan, however.

Whenever I launch I am prompted with this:

This wouldn't be too bad if I could enter my serial number into the box. It doesn't seem to want to go in there.

This is from the downloadable version.. btw. Anyone actually run this through wine? if so, could you please help? :(

so er... yeah.

I get the same screen, but I'm able to enter my serial number. Unfortunately when I do that all I get back is a blank page, when I guess there should be a "Play Now" button or something. This is trying to run #204.

I've been able to run #203 with no problems, but only with the help of a crack. So it seems I'll have to wait until one is available on bittorrent somewhere before I can play the latest episode.

Wine has a lot of problems with copy protection... Using a crack to work around it is pretty much par for the course for Wine-based gaming.

Edit: oh wait! The third time I restarted the program to try entering my code again, I got this screen back, and now the game works perfectly. Heh. I'm using the absolute latest Wine from the git repository though, maybe that's why it works.

Have you guys checked out the "Getting the game to run on Linux" thread? http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4544

If nothing else, the people there should be able to help better than I can.
