The awful spanish translation

edited March 2013 in The Walking Dead
First of all, thanks to bring us international subs. I hope french, italian and german people can enjoy now this wonderful game.
But spanish subs stinks. After playinf a few hours, the only thing I can feel is shame.

First of all, it's full of mispellings and inacurate tranlations. Most of them are literal translations from english with nonsense in spanish, which make the game in some parts ironically incomprehensible.

Then, the translation is filled with manies mexican localism. Spaniards didn't talk as the same way as mexicans, the same manner a Scottish didn't talk like a Texan, an Australian or someone from Bombay, even we talk the same language. There a ton of different localisms, expressions and sentences. This is not against mexicans or southamericans, I understand they have the same issues with subs from Spain. But the bad translation affect us all.

The spanish subs didn't look like professional. In many grammatical aspects and sentences construction there are alike as the bad amateur spanish fansubs you can find for PC. This is very doubtful.

It totally ruins the experience and immersion of the game. This is not the kind of subs fans deserves.

Please, fix it. Thanks.

The digital version of the XBOX 360 game get a official patch with subs few hours ago. The PS3 version soon I guess. The phisical version for Europe have subs in 5 languages.

The spanish translation is mediocre. And you cannot turn them in english animore. I don't know if in another languages they have same troubles. Also, it could be the distribuitor, BadLand Games, the originator of the subs. In that case, TT Games must be know this fact and do something too.
Retro City Rampage, a PS360 and steam digital game had poor french subs. French people complains about it and they got a patch fixin the translation. And it was a minor game.
A game which won many awards like this, must care the details.

I copy & past the same thing i said in the Spanish Thread of the game
The subs are available now. But with terrible bad news. The game is translated into Latin American Spanish, not standard Spanish. So there's a lot of words and expresions that are for latin people in America and not for European Spanish.

TellTale you have to be very careful with this, because Spanish players can't stand this kind of translations

For instance in this forum (one of the most important gaming forum in Spain), people are complaining about this

Generally Latin Spanish and Spain Spanish shouldn't be too different other than the slang terms they use in Latin America which normal folks from outside can't figure out what the heck they're talking about.

I know Spanish fluently, but damn Casa de Mi Padre I had to read the subtitles.

Btw, Casa de Mi Padre's a pretty bad film. Still interesting to see Will Ferrell speak Spanish.

Ni en español de españa ni de ningún sitio, porque las faltas de ortografía y las frases traducidas literalmente del inglés y sin sentido están mal en cualquier país. Que sea latina da igual, el problema es que es una traducción MALA, y ningún hispanohablante debería conformarse con eso, tenemos que unirnos y exigir un trabajo profesional y, además, sin localismos ni de aquí ni de allí.
