It's possible that Carley/Doug are undead, if that counts. Whoever dies in episode 1 should have reanimated as a walker, so maybe they'll appear in the interquel content or season 2.
I'd say Carley being alive is more probable than Doug. He got shot in the back of the head. Carley... I'm not too sure. She got shot in the face. Nobody checked to see if she was breathing. Immediate medical attention could have saved her life. And by immediate, I mean she'd need to find help, otherwise she'd bleed out.
"tendency" counts for error. You think headshots, but they really are only immediately fatal to the brain. Other areas not so much. Not saying she is alive, but there was a possibility, same as Kenny. I choose not to assume, and simply choose. Carl took a shot to the head, and he is still alive. The governor got stabbed through the eye and lived with medical treatment. And considering Lilly shot Carley with her own pistol, which failed to kill Andy, there is a possibility*however low the chance* that Carley could survive.
An explanation of her being out was simply either shock, memory loss, knocked unconscious, etc. I'd say it's a long shot, but hey, it's strange how Telltale would put "Carley will remember that* to get her head blown to pieces five seconds later. For all you know, that is what the interqual is, with her and new characters heading to find the others and their "boat". So yeah, we'll see. Considering the mass majority of players chose to save Carley in ep1, it is plausible that she could return for all later. Otherwise she'd be a walker. We'll see. Hopefully, all our questions will be answered by season 2

She was shot square in the face, it's not like Carl or Andy (which were basically glancing hits).
People tend not to realize just how large the human brain is. Look at a cross-section of the skull sometime; where Carley was hit? The round's path is going to take it right through the base of the brain (even discounting things like the temporary cavity as the round passes through)... basically the perfect place to hit somebody to absolutely guarantee they're dead.
Nevermind the fact that, as pointed out, both Doug and Carley are listed as dead at the end of the game. Hell, I'm pretty sure the developers even commented that the entire reason they included the "Carley will remember that" bit was to lure the player into a false sense of security so it was all the more shocking when it happens.

Dont listen to that guy. He's gonna dig up EVERY POSSIBLE SOLUTION no matter how UNLIKELY or HOW REDUDANT it sounds.

Hahaha, shut up Rize, you know little. And I didn't know it was redundant, considering the thread is a couple days old and nobody said this :P I think she's dead, same with Doug, but who knows? Besides Telltale...

What goes in must come out...
Yeah heard of that...
