[ToMI - Ep. 2] Game crash when clicking on Roe Island

edited March 2013 in Game Support
Hi,

I'm playing Tales of Monkey Island - The Siege of Spinner Cay.
While navigating the Jerkbait Islands with the raft, when I click on Roe Island, the raft move to the island but then the game systematically crash (cf. picture, exactly there).

Has anyone experienced this ? Any advice to resolve that ? I tried lowering the graphic settings, turned on and off full screen and reinstalled the game.

Thanks a lot for your help. :(

Where did you buy the game?
Is it a download or Disc version?

Please also post your dxdiag info.

    dxdiag
Windows XP: Go to your start menu and click on run. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter
Windows Vista / 7: Press the windows key on your keyboard or click on the start menu. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter.
Windows 8: At the start screen, type in "dxdiag" and hit enter

Now click on the button that says "save all information".
It will prompt you to save a file. Save it where you can find it.

Open the file and press Ctrl+A followed by Ctrl+C to copy the contents, and paste them in a reply by pressing CTRL-V.
Sometimes the Forums spam filter catches long posts like this. Don't worry, we can still see them and make them visible.

Hi DjNDB, thanks for your reply.

I bought the game on TellTale website so it's a download version.
Is there a way to load someone else save file btw ?

DxDiag report attached to this post. :)

    Edit : Ok here's the DxDiag : http://pastebin.com/t3pbzEGW

Yes, you can copy the save files to another computer.

Did you redownload the installer before reinstalling the episode?
ToMI EP2 didn't have an integrated check for download errors yet, so that's worth a try.

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.100216-1441)

Card name: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series
    Mini VDD Date: 7/4/2012 07:54:32, 7874560 bytes

    Description: Realtek HD Audio output
    Date and Size: 7/3/2008 16:03:00, 4745216 bytes

I also noticed some things in your dxdiag.

I suggest you install the latest windows updates.

You might also benefit from installing the latest graphics and sound driver.

Hmmm to be honest I don't know. I just downloaded the .exe files from my personal space. How can I download the new installer ?

    Yep good idea. ;)

The save files should be in your "documents" folder. E.g.
    %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\Telltale Games\The Siege of Spinner Cay
The "my documents" folder is named differently on your french windows.

You should be able to download the episode here.

Great, thanks ! I think I will ask in the ToMI forum some save file just after "Roe island"...
You should be able to download the episode here.

That's where I downloaded it actually.

Did you download it again for the Reinstallation?

You can also upload your save file here so i can take a look.

I downloaded it 2 days ago so I guess there's no point to redownload it again (?).

    Attached the save file ;)

It's not about when you downloaded it. The point is that files can be corrupted during download, and if your installer is corrupted, then the game will crash.
Downloading and installing it again could fix that.

Allright will download it again then.
But if ever you have a save file just after Roe island, that'll make my day :)

I saved right after arriving on roe island. Maybe that works.

Well thanks but I think I found another solution. I switched to full screen instead of window mode... and it worked.

    Thanks again !
