Hey everyone

I installed tales of monkey island chapter 3 today on my windows 8 machine

but the launcher won't show up for me at all

how can i fix this problem

    Do the other episodes work?
    Do you get any error message?

    Hey DJNDB

    i bought the game on this site a long time ago

    when i used to run windows xp on my old desktop machine

    and no i do not get any error messages at all

    the launcher won't show up at all

    i clicked the .exe file like 15 times now with no such luck

    the strong bad launcher showed up with no problem at all

    so what could be wrong the tales of monkey island launcher then

    I see. Please post your dxdiag info.

    Windows XP: Go to your start menu and click on run. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter
    Windows Vista / 7: Press the windows key on your keyboard or click on the start menu. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter.

    That's a Windows 8 incompatibility.

    It should work if you unplug all non essential usb devices, especially gamepads/joysticks.

    If you don't want to unplug the devices every time, the dinput8.dll workaround should help.

    I have another problem

    everytime i play tales of money island

    my hp laptop gets very hot

    so how can i fix it so my laptop does not overheat when i am playing this game

    In general make sure that the laptops openings are dust free and not blocked while you play.
    You can also turn down the graphics settings to reduce the GPU load.

    Does it actually overheat and shut down while you play?
    What are the temperatures like?

    Hey DJNDB

    my laptop gets very noisey and gets very hot when i play this game alot on my windows 8 HP Laptop

    and get very loud so i tried turning down the grapics to 1 and it stills overheats

    I can not answer that 100%, because it is very hardware specific.
    Normally the laptop should slow down and eventually shut down if it gets to hot.

    I suggest you follow this guide from HP.
