I can't play any of my Telltale games

edited June 2013 in Game Support
Hi,

I recently buy the weekly bundle sale with all the telltale games. But I can't launch them on steam. I have the same error each time with all the games : "[gamename].exe has stopped working". I already tried to change the compatibility settings and run the games as administrator but nothing changed.

Here's a screeshot (Yes i'm from France) :

Can somebody help me ?
Thanks !

    That's a Windows 8 incompatibility.

It could work if you unplug all non essential usb devices, especially gamepads/joysticks.

If you don't want to unplug the devices every time, the dinput8.dll workaround could help.

Now this appears everytime i try to start the game... http://puu.sh/35rvu.png

Cant believe humble bundle is selling these games for "windows xp or greater" but windows 8 isnt supported. Steam sells it this way too right? wtf telltale games...

This is happening to me also, none of the humble bundle games will load on steam. I just get *gamename*.exe has stopped working. I am on windows 7 64bit.

Please check if the game crash creates an entry in the event viewer in the "Event Viewer/Application" section.
Double click the entry to see its properties.
Then click on the icon below the arrows that looks like two sheets of paper, to copy the information, and paste it into a new reply.

I am not sure what causes that error message.

Are you running the DRM Free version or the Steam version?

Also please post your dxdiag info.

    dxdiag
Windows XP: Go to your start menu and click on run. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter
Windows Vista / 7: Press the windows key on your keyboard or click on the start menu. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter.
Windows 8: At the start screen, type in "dxdiag" and hit enter

Now click on the button that says "save all information".
It will prompt you to save a file. Save it where you can find it.

Open the file and press Ctrl+A followed by Ctrl+C to copy the contents, and paste them in a reply by pressing CTRL-V.
Sometimes the Forums spam filter catches long posts like this. Don't worry, we can still see them and make them visible.

It could be display related. Please try setting the refresh rate of your display to 60Hz.
If that doesn't help, please try connecting the display directly to the PC.

Thanks for the tip, it seems to work for now when the 2nd monitor is set to 1080p60. I can't disconnect it because it's my amplifier so i would have no sound. I'll see how it goes.
