Walking Dead doesnt work...

edited June 2013 in Game Support
Hi,

My Walking dead just goes to a black screen when I'm trying to launch it. I haven't been able to play it at all, so I don't imagine it's a save file problem? I downloaded the tool and attached the file...

Any advice gratefully received. Cheers...

Have you tried waiting several minutes to see if it continues after the black screen?
What happens if you press Alt-Enter during the black screen?

Tried waiting about 10 minutes, no luck, nothing happens when I press Alt-Enter either, unfortunately.

That's puzzling. Let's look at some more data.

Please open the Steam client. In the menu select "help/system information".
Right click on the information it shows and select "select all".
Right click again and select "copy".
Finally paste the results into a reply message in this thread by pressing CTRL-V.
It contains a section "Installed software", which might have sensitive entries, so feel free to redact them.

Have you tried disabling your security software?
It's possible that it blocks the game.

You can also try if disconnecting from the internet changes something.

If that doesn't change anything, we should look at what the game does until it crashes.

Start your system into a clean boot:
    1. Click Start --> Type msconfig --> Press Enter
    2. On the General tab, choose Selective Startup
    3. Uncheck Load Startup Items
    4. Select the Services tab
    5. Check Hide all Microsoft services
    6. Click Disable all
    7. If running the game on Steam, re-check the "Steam Client Service"
    8. Click on OK
    9. Click Restart.

    After reboot start process monitor.
Then immediately try starting the game again. Process monitor will log what the game does while it tries to start. Once the games .exe is closed (you can check in the Task manager), press CTRL+E in process monitor to stop event capturing. Then save the process monitor log (in the menu select "file/save", choose "All Events" and "PML Format", and choose a location).
Finally .zip the PML file (which will reduce the size significantly), and upload it to an instant filehoster and post the download link.

After the test, restore your boot settings by doing the following:

    1. Click Start --> Type msconfig --> Press Enter
    2. On the General tab, choose Normal Startup
    3. Click Ok
    4. Click Yes, when asked to restart your computer

Disabling my security seems to have fixed it, much obliged.
