My survival plan in TWD

edited June 2013 in The Walking Dead
Well since the zombies are drawn to sound, I'd just have powerful surround sound speakers set up in the town square and blast the phattest earthshaking-iest dubstep track. The walkers will never hear me coming.

:D

I would go find my uncle because he lives out in the countryside away from people he a
has cows ,chickens and a field of potatoes and vegies to grow not to mention several guns which he has experience using. oh god bless my redneck uncle

    If I'm at home:
Close and lock the doors, turn on all the faucets/taps (and plug the drains - that way they'll fill up for when the water turns off,) and move all of my water bottles andcanned and nonperishable food items to the upstairs floor of my house. Also move all the candles and flashlights etc up there. The top floor only has one entrance, so if need be, I could barricade just that and be fine, long as I didn't starve. Basically I'd just try and survive for as long as I could until the military came through to fix things (which they most likely would - I don't think TWD was realistic in that respect.)

If I'm out (in a car):
My family has always talked about going to my uncle's (honorary uncle - he's my godfather) house, also, since he also owns a large plot of farmland. He has goats and grows his own vegetables and fruits, and he lives in a very secluded area so we wouldn't have to worry about walkers. He also has a lot of guns anyway because of coyotes and whatnot that attack his goats (and he sees the occasional rabid animal, too.) Hooray for redneck uncles.

    Agreed.

Spoilers for Shawn of the Dead

I like how in Shawn of the Dead the military wins with the British Army coming in and wtfpwning everything at the end. Unlike most "serious" zombie stories, a comedy turned out to have the more realistic outcome.

No chances in Russia, Weapons banned in our country, we haven't got weapons shops :( Countrysides and forests is the only way. But escape from Moscow it's a very big problem, even now, when nothing bad going on. Tube, because of poorly thought-out transport system. Well, I'm always wear my combat knife with me, and also I have powerful sports bow in my countryside :)

Well I am screwed, I live in the country and do not own a single useful weapon, I guess I could talk them to death about my knowledge of the Walking Dead.

I would go to a farm nearby me,and hope the owners will let me in,if not,I will ask for some supplies at least, and I will then camp out the night, then scavenge around the town for supplies, and after that,I will hit the road for a while,or I may just fortify my house for a bit,and then think of plan then, ether way I'm dead.

What if the zombies can swim?

I would instantly get all supplies into my fathers car and assign everyone melee weapons such as knives, bats, tennis rackets, etc.

Other weapons can be stored into the car, we'll go out into the countryside and try to find some sort of farmhouse or something.

If we find one that's all clear, it'll most likely have a family and guns (for hunting)

If I'm not leader, I will make sure everyone trains far away from the farm to both attract nearby walkers over to that area so they avoid the farm. We grow food and we live our lives there, that's it.

I would take precautions of course, I hope they have some sort of rifle, even a hunting one is good enough. My brother will stay at home and practice with firearms due to his young age, my father and I guess one of the family members (Let's just say there's a 1 farmer, 1 woman (Vet Medic), and 1 son in this family). Hopefully the brother or farmer will go with him just to be safe.

As for supplies such as medicine, ammo, and water. I could try and go on scavenging missions into small towns nearby or the main town I lived in however it is populated so I will have to be extremely careful. But I know a few good spots.

We'll need a lot of disinfectant, melee weapons and ammo in order to deal with walkers. Disinfectant can be used to try and help a bite victim, it is plausible to save one with enough medicine as bites are infections and infections can be cured.

Amputation could be done if bit on a limb, such as the arm or leg. However I know few tips about medicine so that's where the vet medic can come in if we have one.

Strangers will be a whole different story. We'll have to take all their weapons and only give them short-ranged weapons such as a small knife. We'll have to keep our distance and try to act friendly, if we have guns at this point (such as handguns) then we'll be aiming it at them at ALL times and helping them deal with walkers for trust.

Once we think they're safe we let them in. However it's still risky, if someone kills an innocent person they will die. However killing can be done, IF necessary (such as someone turning into a walker).

Now at this point let's say we have: Me, My Father, My Mother and My Brother. We are all well-armed and trained at this point. We also have the Farmer, Farmers Wife (Medic) and Farmers Son (Hunter). Let's also be nice and add in two strangers Male and Female (Codename: Christa and Omid).

However when there's less supplies nearby and we have to be more risky in order to scavenge, or an infestation appears. We will have to go, hopefully our fuel should be stocked up nice at this point and hopefully we've found an RV to rest in.

If not, we must still have my dads car at this point and hopefully the farmer has a vehicle too. Now we'll get me, my family and the farmer family in my dads car.

Christa and Omid or one of them will take the farmers car into the opposite direction. We'll swing by in a minute as they set the alarm and we drive off, keeping the walkers there to follow that car and sound and not our car (since the car alarm sound will engulf our car engine).

We just go into the country further away near some small (smaller/bigger) towns and just do the routine again. I doubt we'll find many more strangers of families of farmers.

I hope to god this plan works out okay.

Why is everyone acting like the countryside is some sort of paradise where. You can grow your own crops? What happens if the water turns off? What happenes if it doesn't rain for a week? What happenes if your crops wither and die?

Personally, I would grab some decent blunt melee weapons, grab all the food and stuff I got and live up in the attic or something.

Lock all the doors and windows, shut the curtains and never turn on the lights (bring a flashlight)

If I ran out of food or water I would try and scavenge stuff from my local shop or other peoples houses

Since I got no guns, I would try scavenging useful weapons such as knifes or axe's etc

But let's fave it, I'll die anyway ;)

It's probably much easier to see walkers in the wide open countryside than it is in narrow streets and buildings. I always thought that was the primary reason.

What if the zombies can swim?

even if they could (which i don't think they can) they couldn't swim better than they could walk so i would have a watcher at all times and if we see zombies we move or kill them, not even a person can outswim a boat so that is the main advantage of a boat that it is mobile, plus it is on hard to traverse terrain, currents and waves would be to much for zombies to handle

Naah, people tend to think that counrtysides are empty and peacefull, somewhere where you would have very little walker problems.

Take one of my parents' cars, and try to meet up with my Uncle and Aunt, who own a Maverick 4x4, which'd be a lot more suited to getting around. Then, following that, I'd try to get to the coast in Lincolnshire or North Yorkshire, then get a boat and travel around to one of the Channel Islands. After that, agriculture and fishing would be my best bet.

If the crops all died,I would gather my things together and scavenge what I can on the road, but it rains in Scotland a lot so I wouldn't need to worry about that.

I know,I was only joking,I think your idea is good, and in the case of an apocalypse I hope it works out for you.

In the countryside you're more likely to grow crops. It's also a lot less populated than cities so less walkers. You can pretty much assure you don't get boxed in. Plus just travel to a town/city to scavenge things.

If you stayed in your attic, you would be fucked. Since the most likeliest thing is that walkers will invade your home and you will be trapped and probably end up like that boy in Episode 4 (No offense).

I live in England so you don't see many zombie apocalypses over here in movies or games. I live in the countryside, on the edge of a town, so small population means less walkers right? There's a school near by so I could hide out in there for a while, I could borrow some gardening tools from my step dad (yes I still live with my parents haven't moved out yet or found a place of my own) like a shovel could bash a few heads in. I should keep moving from place to place, shouldn't stop moving or the walkers just keep on hammering your defences until they find a way in in. That's my survival plan. Either that or find someone called Kenny who has an epic moustache.

I'll probably turn bandit. Very quickly in fact, within the first week at least. Everyone else will be trying to figure out what is happening, trying to hold on to a semblance of normalcy, and I'll already be dressed up as the Humungus, driving around in my supped up dune buggy demanding you people hand over that tanker of gas.
