Why do people like Bonnie's Story?

edited July 2013 in The Walking Dead
I think it only has shock value from killing Dee going for it - I guess you could relate to her if you've recovered or are recovering from something, or are in a love-triangle?

I just don't get it...

Why do some people like kitties while others prefer dogs? It just is.

Being chased through the cornfield was pretty creepy especially if you played Shel's first. Plus, well people like different things just because you didn't like it dosn'tt mean others didn't

I found Bonnie quite a likeable and relateable character, if you ask me. Also, her situation was felt new to TWD game, while still being a bit Lee-esque, wanting to be a better person and trying to move on from their past, (drug addiction and the murder of his wife), and being somwhat dependant on other people, (leland and Dee and Clem). Finally, and this is probably mostly me being insane and putting myself in the characters shoes faaaar too much, Dee's dying insults made me cry a bit.

Ooh, and I forget the ninja jumping through the cornfield! And the Would You Rather? game! Bonnie be epic.

Sorry for the double post there.

I like the way it tied in with Shel's story. I wasnt expecting that and I got a real kick out of it.

It definitely had horror elements with the cornfield (not as bad as walking through the fog in Wyatt's though), which I appreciate since I do think this is supposed to be a horror game, at least sometimes...

But Bonnie's was my least favorite because of the Dee thing. The only time I died in 400 Days was when Dee killed me with a flashlight. So when she was mad at me for killing her, I'm just like, "uh, you were gonna kill me so how am I supposed to feel again?" and I thought I should have an option to tell Leland she tried to kill me.

I picked Bonnies first. It made the story a little hard to pick up on. In fact I didnt. Not saying it was impossible to pick up on but certainly the storyline is easier to follow if you pick the characters in a certain order. Anyways I really didnt like Bonnie as a character. The story is fine but Bonnie annoyed me. Shes a washed up druggie who I can totally see screwing over the group.

I dislike her very much. I can't coup with that accent. Sue me.

I think she's a charming character and it's an incredibly original scenario for a video game to play the woman that a married man has a crush on. I felt really bad for her.

Bonnie's story was my favorite because it was the most realistic in my opinion. Leland was cheating with Bonnie, Dee stole supplies which led to Roman's group attacking them, Bonnie attempts to survive in the cornfield and in the heat of the moment, killed Dee. I just found the story more pleasant than the others.

    I was wondering...
In the camp where Tavia went to talk with evrebody , Bonnie didn`t realized that the ones who haunted the tri-angle(Bonnie,Dee,Leeland) in the cornfield was Shel`s and Becca`s gang.
I`m saying thid because little Becca knew about Leeland and I was wondering if everybody in the camp knew all about each others story???Hmmm

It was strange she said nothing about Shell being apart of the group of people that almost killed her.

    Leland.
    That is all.

Really? I found her accent adorable.

I guess I somehow related to Bonnie. I'm a sugar junkie myself.
  • edited July 2013
Ain't we all just junkies to sugar, anyway I liked the accent even though I do not know what type of accent it even is.
  • edited July 2013
I liked it because I felt like I was the most free to build Bonnie's character, where-as the others seemed very well defined, so there were just choices that didn't feel right for them.

Hers was the first story I died in. I think I got shot by one of the pursuers.

Who was the voice actress, because it was a good accent that I would not mind hearing again.

I hated that cornfield. Never died that much in TWD as there. She's however the only character that will join the group no matter what. So we kind of get her if we want or not. I may go redo stuff to get the whole team together. Just Bonnie and Vince is a bit disappointing.

    This.

Also, despite having no zombies (at least in my run) it was the most intense episode of the bunch... in my opinion.

You can die in the cornfield? Wow, I feel more badass now!

    Go team Bonnie!

Yes and I died a few times, not rage level but enough for me to say I suck at stealth.

I didn't like bonnies story all, her accent was annoying as hell dee was annoying too I didnt care for leeland to much. dialogue didn't make sense and was kind of pointless overall bonnie was my least favorite character to play.

I liked it because it was a fresh perspective in gaming- a group of mature adults, one recovering from a drug addiction- thats real stuff. Usually its some twenty somethings fresh faced and eager to experience the world blah blah... after Leland stopped with the hypothetical questions, that conversation was got kinda deep right until Dee walked in.
I liked all the stories but Bonnie just seemed very genuine.

Statements like this is why recovering junkies never recover. Really, though, it was Dee who screwed everyone over by stealing from another group. Bonnie was my favorite storyline of the new episode, as it felt fresh and quite different from other TWD plots. I really enjoyed the love triangle and drug recovery aspect.

Seriously, if you hate Bonnie, then feel free to hate Wyatt as well.

    Hated this story, hated Bonnie.

I don't understand why people like her so much. Sure, the wife was a bitch, but rightfully so, she was basically losing her husband to a recovering drug addict who later smashed her head in a with a pipe.

I didn't liked her character at all.

I think Bonnie and Vince are my favourite 400 Days characters as well. Russell is annoying, Shel is pretty bland (I still like her though) and although I like Wyatt I don't feel like I know him well enough as a character yet, I feel like Eddie had such a big personality that he kind of overshadowed Wyatt a bit.

I don't understand how people can complain about a character's personality. You make their personality with your choices, don't you? I mean, Lee could've been the kindest person in the world or a complete dick based on your choices. I think it's unfair to call Shel and Russell bland/annoying. Maybe it was just your choices.

I think it's a whole different story with 400 Days. I've done two playthroughs, one normal and one with opposite choices with different things to say and they still seem like the same person. Sure Russell can be a bit more of a dick to Nate (with good reason) but he is still the same person just does a few things different. I just don't felt like Shel was as interesting as the other characters, and Russell annoyed me in both playthroughs. I liked both of them just not as much as the other characters.

However with Lee you can be a complete asshole to some people or a really nice guy. Sometimes he still has the same actions either way but you can sort of shape his character in the 5 episodes, but not in 15 minutes for the 400 Days characters, they seemed to have their own personality from the start which is why I think it would work for them to be in Season 2 without us controlling them.

I see your point. I mean, but that doesn't mean their personalities are bland or annoying. I mean, I didn't find Russell annoying at all, he was rightfully pissed Nate who's a sadist, sexist, and slightly racist. Him being wary in the epilogue was a bit on the annoying side, but look at what he's been through. Listen to his backstory, how he was in a gang that killed innocent people. That takes a toll on your and can make you really untrusting towards people.

As for Shel, I think her mellowed personality in comparison with the "loud" personalities of the other characters can knock people off. Here you have someone that isn't screaming and cussing every two seconds.

Yeah I get what you mean. Because although they still act like the same person, the dialogue choices do make differences still, whether they are subtle or major. I still think they are good characters still, I think Telltale did a great job in creating believable and interesting characters and showing them off 15 minutes at a time and we still care about them already.

    This.

    Actually the whole post.

I also found Bonnie's story the most disturbing. It seriously unsettled me. This probably makes me an asshole and that's cool but I did not give a rat's about Dee. Stealing from another group (thereby endangering her own) trying to stop Leland from helping injured Bonnie, and of course, wanting to smash Bonnie's head in for a perceived affair (or the very least mutual feelings of affection). *shudders*
