There should be boss battles (QTE button mashers) in season 2

edited July 2013 in The Walking Dead
Imagine a 5 minute scene nothing but QTE in a showdown with a walker boss. It would be great especially if the boss is walker Kenny.

I hope you're joking about that, that would seriously ruin season 2 for me. You want to fight bosses go play fighting games.

I didn't mind showdowns à la the stranger and St. Johns, but button mashing only gets you so far.
  • edited July 2013
Well, technically speaking, the conversation with the Stranger at the end of episode 5 was a boss fight. But because it's the 21st century and a lot of video gamers are grown-ups, the final boss throws moral accusations instead of fireballs.

He is quoting the soon to be immortal Nate, and I would like to see epic fights on the level of Andy Saint John and Campman, why not make it Nate.

Each time you fight Nate he gets a new scar. The fight with Wyatt in the car and the scar on Nate's hand was not the last one...

Would it have been cool if when you are playing as Russel if you pick the option to shoot him but you hit him in the shoulder or hand and makes you go first while saying "I will cover you" slowly with that creepy face, and in Season 2 he would still have that wound along with the glass in his hand.

    Haha, that would be awesome.

I thought it would be a nice little add on.

Well, rubbing that pitchfork execution in my face did hit me more than Bowser's fire ever did...

Saying I was bad protector of Clementine made feel madder then when I first got that troll Toad and not the princess.

It would be really cool if the QTEs would get bigger every episode. When i find myself replaying the episodes i'm always looking forward to the QTEs the most since i get to have the most movement.

I mean, in episode 5, the scene where Lee goes through the horde of walkers being badass and all, it was pretty sweet but it didn't last long...
  • edited July 2013
I guess, to many QTE's tend to piss people off, it does not affect me but it can be seen as lazy.
  • edited July 2013
I don't feel like it's lazy, over the years the Telltale Engine served for nothing else but traditional point & click adventures where you investigate, use items with this and that and just in general enjoy the scenes and dialogue. QTEs is something that Telltale's still new at. You gotta do some pretty extensive animation since there's action going on, you gotta ensure the QTEs are gonna be satisfying and not too annoying, and so forth. It seriously looks like it's a lot more effort then puzzle-making and lip-syncing, which telltale has done already for years.
  • edited July 2013
Lip syncing might not be there strongest part, but you are right the QTE's are fun and are satisfying, I know plenty of games that screw QTE's up and is most likely the reason people think they are lazy, they are not they are just hard to handle.

If I said a 5 minute QTE boss fight against a walker Kenny, do you think I am being serious?

When I wrote that the other day, I imagined a walker Kenny on all fours like a spider (imagine the spiderman pose), using his mousatche to extend and grab the main character. To get out, the gamer has to repeatedly press Q so that the main character cam grab the nearest axe and cut off the satche.
  • edited July 2013
It would then wither away and die because the stache is the source of his strength and power.

Well I like it to, I would prefer Kenny to be alive but if he is dead then this needs to happen.

Someone made a Lee model that you could use for Source Filmmaker, so there's that.

Both. That's a sarcastic line said by Nate.
