Why aren't they afraid if you shoot?

If you drive off in the RV , Shel and Becca are afraid of being chased down by Roman. Why are they not afraid if you decide to shoot Steph? They have still left the group at 400 days. (could be I missed a response in Tavia's bit?)Or did they shoot everyone or something?

    If you shoot Steph, you stay in the group. Since Day 400 is a long time after Day 259, I assume the group fell apart, and they went their separate ways, or the rest of the group died
