Found the Final Resting Place of Carley/Doug.

Due to Russell’s episode in 400 days I can now work out the exact location of the final resting place of Carley/Doug after Lily’s act of madness that autumn night.

As we know the group was fleeing Macon due to their motel camp being overrun by bandits and walkers and were trying to reach Savannah in order to find a boat and therefore most probably heading in an easterly direction.

Russell was travelling to find relatives in Statesboro, Georgia. According to his map if you choose to click it, the journey was 80 miles and we joined him when he had 63 miles to travel. Also on his map, he has marked the direction he has to travel which is a mostly an east-west line between two points. Two other things on note on his map, is the Route 16 – which is the main highway between Macon and Savannah is south of his journey. Also the huge lake far to the north (over 100 miles) from his journey – which is easily identified as J. Strom Thurmund Reservoir, north-west of Augusta.

Due to the large scale of the map, if Russell was travelling from the east to Statesboro, his map would show the coastline pretty easily, as well as Savannah. Also due to the position of the J. Strom Thurmund Reservoir, being west of Statesboro in longitude and his journey straddling either side of the lake in longitude – the only logical outcome is that Russell was travelling to Statesboro from the West.

Russell's Map in 400 days. Notice the traced journey and the word "ville" under a circle.

Where did Russell start his journey from? I have traced his map journey onto Google Map, using the roads available, and using the specified distance in the game. I have come to the conclusion that Russell started his journey from around Wrightsville, Georgia and journeyed east. In fact if you look at his map in game you can just about see “ville” below one of the circles. The map journey looks very similar to the Google map journey I traced. Not only that – the journey I traced is exactly 76.2 miles, almost 80 miles and is practically identically to the journey on the map.

The traced route on Google Map of Russell's journey.

I am impressed with Telltale games for their detail in this, as they used small roads for Russell’s journey and kept off main roads as much as possible – highlighting Russell’s distrusting nature.

Now that we have the route, we can now pinpoint where Russell seen Carley’s/Doug’s corpse on the side of the road. Russell seen the corpse 63 miles away from Statesboro, either in an 80 mile journey or a 76.2 mile journey. This means he walked either 17 miles or 13.2 miles west from Wrightsville before encountering the corpse and Nate.

63 mile radius around Stateboro, where Russell found the corpse of Carley/Doug

Which means i can conclude that the body of Carley/Doug is lying on the side of the Kight Road (57) OR Bird Flanders Road, just North-west of Swainsboro, Georgia. :-( 

That is very intelligent of you, good job *Clap Clap*, I am happy that Telltale went that far into detail.

Thanks :) . Yeah I agree, its fantastic Telltale put a lot of thought into it.

I am going to try if I can find the train junction and the bridge with the gas freighter hanging from it in Ep 4 . Although admittingly its going to be a lot harder.

Well get to it, I am sure it can be done.

Good job, not that i care much for it as it's a game but still nice Telltale did the work (and you of course) :)

Fair Play for going to the effort to work all that out! :)

Well we know were you loyalty lies, with the Walking Dead.

Great, now if I ever pass that road in reality, I'm gonna weep.

Well when I go to Georgia I will go to Savannah and spend the night in the Marshall house, and go to that said road because I care that much.

lol maybe I am! To be fair it only took me 45 mins. Thanks to everyone for the praise.

But this I feel this is important. We know now that Russell's old crew (including the murderous Steve) is hanging around Wrightsville. If Season 2 includes Wrightsville, we know what might be coming.

We now know that the gas station that 400 days is centred around is more than likely very near Swainsboro.

And let's talk about Lily. If my calculations are correct, Lily headed North on foot through the forest (near to Swainsboro) after she was exiled from the group, at least initially. Tavia said to the group at the end of 400 days, who were camping near to Swainsboro that they had a settlement North.

It is VERY possible that Lily could be in Tavia's settlement.

Let's delve in deeper, shall we?

Using scale and measurements, as well as the geography of the area, there are two locations on the roads mentioned (highlighted in red) that are very likely wheer the murder took place, blue is lesser possibility. Here it is below.

Hehe I wouldn't mind a walking dead tour of Georgia myself, (Savannah looks beautiful) unfortunately I am on the other side of the pond!

It's nice, but the pics are way too big.

I have been to Savannah once years ago, it is a pretty city.

    This awesome dude!

Do you think you could find Motor Inn?

Attention to detail is ridiculous! This is why I love TellTale!

    Just one more reason.

op has way too much time on their hands imo..

yes lets start dissecting a fictional death of a fictional character in a fictional game..

do you really expect to go this actual location and find a body ?? if so and there is a body i dread to think what will happen... like would you take a selfie of you and the corpse ?

    smh

You can't even appreciate somebody's efforts to show what a good job the game developers made on being specific?
    Fuck you.

I think he meant that as a joke so calm your tits a little -_-

I mean, it's the walking dead. May include sarcasm.

It's around here somewhere, it seems a lot of places in the game are based off real areas, I read somewhere that Savannah in game looks very similar to real life Savannah.

Hmmm....that's only half-a-day's drive from where I live. I should place some flowers along the side of the road.

Also, when the zombie apocalypse actually happens (because it will), I'm totally going to that Travelier Motel in Macon. :D

Well you won't mind if came and put flowers there to, would be strange if someone drove by to see two people putting flowers in a ditch with nothing there, but screw it I will do it.

The more the merrier! We'll place a nice little wreath of white flowers with a sign that reads: "In memory of our beloved Carley. Or Doug."

Everyone who drives by the little roadside memorial will be like 'whaaaaaat?'

Unless they played, in which they would join it because it makes sense.

That motel isn't the motel in the walking dead, that motel is in Macon, missouri not macron georgia.

As for be people saying I have no life for working this out... Hell it only took me 45 mins on a hungover sunday morning. And I thought being curious about the world of the walking dead and its characters are what these forums are about. To discuss them?

As for the rest of the world, I think I have identified the motel and clementines house. You have to rem that while telltale games do copy from the real world, they do alter some stuff Eg the river front in savannah has real buildings in the distance, the shops on the street are all different tho. Its all about direction and geography - and I am gifted in map reading for some reason.

At least Telltale goes that extra mile to go into detail, I mean the only other game to have Savannah is Left for Dead 2 and they did not even try to make it look like the read Savannah, Telltale did.

For the record I only blame Chuck and Brie on Ben, and Chuck was okay with dying to saving Clementine and Brie should have known not to stand near the door but I really can't blame her for it, I guess that means I do not blame Ben for everything, I mean he still screwed up but not everything was his fault, even though he thinks it was.

Can I come to Carley (or Doug, poor Doug always left out) memorial too?

Like I said, the more the better, before long the whole road will be piling up with cars just so they can see the spot were Carley got killed, that is devotion man.

I just need to get a ride on a aeroplane to get to America, wait a second I'm to young to go on my own and my parents wouldn't understand. Looks like I'm stuck in England, sorry Carley :(

Well then send me the flowers, I will proudly put it on the side of the road, for all to see,and maybe a 21 gun salute, with a glock 17.

If someone does actually place flowers at their resting place, be sure to take a picture of it and post it here, would be interesting to see. I'm not lying, if I was living close to there, I would totally do that. Unfortunately, being from Europe, my options to do so are limited. Maybe if somehow someday I find myself in the US :D

Well I have always wanted to go back to Savannah, so I guess I will try.
