Do ya think the writing for 400 Days was poor?

edited July 2013 in The Walking Dead
I personally think the writing in 400 Days was...not poor, but was kinda flawed and didn't live up the writing standards of season one. I mean, in Shel's story, there was a zombie eating a puppy. Apparently, dogs are still giving birth 220 days into the Apocalypse. And the person you left to die in Vince's story appear in Russel's story. I left Danny (the mexican rapist<3) die, and when I told Nate that I didn't want a ride, he drove off and about 50 zombies INCLUDING Danny came out of the woods. Seriously? Why the hell is Danny in the woods? How did he just crawl all the way there? And when eddie runs over that guy, he appears in shel's story, chained up on the lamp-post... How'd he get there? Did he just make his way out of the fog. Mkay. What about when Dee hits you with the flashlight and that somehow kills you. Bitch's got some strength.

And in Russel's/Wyatt's story, the motorway that was flooded with cars, have ALL disappeared, but the bus that Vince was on is just standing there on its own. I mean, who wouldn't rob a bus that's presumably full of diesel? Unless it's been siphoned, which isn't implied.

And honestly the voice acting wasn't the best either. I liked the voices, they fitted the characters, but if they were in trouble or something, they seemed like they didn't mind. Like Vince. On the bus, he just seemed really chilled, like he didn't care what was going on.

And some of the choices you could make were just pointless. If you chose to shoot Nate, the gun clicks. OH NOE! The bullets are out. as soon as you aim at the sniper, bullets magically appear in the gun. And If you told becca that she could shoot Stephanie AFTER SHE OFFERED TOO, she says "Ahhh nooooh, i'll do it when it's my turn'. Then why say that you would do it? If wyatt was made to leave the car, then it doesn't matter if you save OR leave the guy. The choices you make only affect 2 things really, and that's who comes with you to the camp (Vince and Shel) The rest (Russel + Wyatt) can be convinced by saying ''Ya'll might have some family der".

Hiding or standing your ground in russel's story is pointless as well. And If ya don't want a ride with him, you gotta anyway. This 'Illusion Of Choice' stuff is starting to make sense to me.

These are my opinions, I really enjoyed this episode, but it didn't live up to the expectations that season one provided for us (I think). What are your opinions on the subject?

It definitely wasn't of the quality of a season 1 episode but I didn't expect it to be. It was good for what it was, a dlc episode,a little snack before we get served the main course that will be season 2.

I would say in was on par with season 1, which is all I ever asked for, I was not hoping for them to top the Walking Dead season 1, but to be about as good, and they were so I am confident season 2 will not suck at all.

For 5 stories being told within less than 2 hours, it was very well written, they only had very little time to make us care about the story and characters, and from what I see on the forums that worked out better than I had expected. It keeps up the high standards S1 has set.

I went in thinking that making me care was going to be hard to impossible, but they pulled that off and I liked all the main characters and the side characters, so I hope they all come back for season 2 along with Clementine and hopefully other season 1 survivors.

Dogs generally are still puppies throughout their first year of life. A small- to mid-size dog could have still been about that big after 220+ days.

Dogs still could be breeding during that time as well.

Obviously this is a minor point, but I don't think it's beyond reason that Shel could have seen a puppy being eaten.

I disagree with the 'dog' point. Who's feeding the dogs? Have they been scrounging for 200+ days? How have they been staying alive?

Why can't dogs live without human help? Stray dogs scrounge around.

All to true, dogs seem to learn pretty fast or die, and that puppy did not learn fast.
