Monkey Island series "quits unexpectedly"

I bought the mac compatible Tales of Monkey Island series from Steam. It starts up, but when I try to start a new game or do anything from the first screen the whole thing closes and I get a pop up that "Telltale games has quit unexpectedly." Every chapter does this, and I have already tried reinstalling
please help I love monkey island and would love to play
