400 dlc not worth it (major spoilers)

edited July 2013 in The Walking Dead
I regret the purchase of this dlc, I regret it as much as buying mass effect 3 and believing in bioware.

Short on the stories I was interested in, long in the areas I didn't give a heck about.

Didn't tie together quite to my liking, once more the "forced" choices with areas where a third option should have been present.

I mean really? Shooting a foot off? I saw the cuffs on the feet, they could have just untied them, then it just stops once he's out of the bus, gee, what was the purpose of a 5 minute conversation and BRIEF action sequence?

I kinda wish there was a spoiler it would have been nice to know that hey, this episode is short as heck, don't bother wasting 5 bucks on it.

This doesn't come even a quarter of the way close to lee's drama and story. This was just a letdown to me, I was expecting something else. At least a good hour or twos worth of play, there is no replay value to me at all on this dlc. I loved lees storyline I was ecstatic to find this on the psn (completely unaware it had been planned) so disappointed in it overall :/ the choices really do it in.

this dlc makes me second guess telltale.... I am empty inside after this dlc...

I like the idea of exploring several different survivors, but some of them I could give a crap less what happens to them, id honestly rather them die, like Becca, if i could have shot her I would have, same thing with the druggie chick. None of it really came together well for me, I do see where the stories kind of intertwine but the gap between Vince and Wyatt is large, how the heck did they meet up? how did Russel get involved with them, a brief appearance isn't enough for them to really make me feel this game like I did with the demo and lee (that demo left me hungry for more) this pos dlc leaves me with a sour taste and a desire to vomit.

I know a large quantity loved the game, I love the walking dead, I really like getting back into it's environment but this just didn't do it for me, not really something to tide me over for season 2, more along the lines of something that will dissuade me from buying season 2 especially if i have to control the characters I hate just to understand the story, I'd much rather kill them and move on to the characters I am interested in.

I hate when games do this! I want to like it so bad but it just feels wrong at most every corner, at least with Russel i could tell Nate "screw you" to an extent. though id much prefer to have loaded the gun and shot him. it was obvious he was evil.... i mean come on... even playing as a zombie lee would have been awesome (though impossible since clem did solve that situation) poor clem...

The flaws of TWD Season 1 & 400 Days combined are nowhere as near as bad as ME3 was.

When faced with a major decision, having a third option that acts as a compromise ruins the effect that the decision has on the player.

    ME3 SPOILERS START.
This is evident in ME3 (which you hate so much) when dealing with the Krogan/Salarian & Quarian/Geth conflicts.
The ability to have them all at your side ruins the effect of the decision, in which you're supposed to choose between them.
    ME3 SPOILERS END.

The purpose of the five-minute conversation between Vince, Danny & Justin is to let the player get to know the two - both are likeable (for convicted criminals), and this is meant to make choosing between the two harder for the player.

The episode is equal in both price and length to previous entries - you get what you pay for...
I think what you mean to say is that the short stories are (MAJOR SPOILER SHOCKS) short?

    -

The reason you care for the characters of the Lee / Clem Story Arc more than the ones from 400 Days is because more time is spent with them. You have more time to grow attached.

    Let's pretend:

    You introduce me to TWD.
You let me play Episode 3.
    Carley dies.
    You cry.
    I laugh.
Me: "HAHAHA - Lily invaded that Bitch's space with a slug to her face!"

See how it works? I don't care - because I don't know her...

    -

I'd like to see you do a better job than Telltale - in fact, I double-dare ya...

These are probably just your first impressions - hopefully they will change after you read this...

Ps. Nate was fucking awesome - don't diss...

No one diss's Nate, until he kills someone I like.

Its just a DLC, it will obviously not be as good as a whole season... Would you rather have had nothing at all until season 2 when the game continues?
I thought it was a brief but fun experience

Better to have an explanation than a five word sentence that would make people respond with "Would you care to expand upon your opinion?"

Nate is insane. He is not awesome. He is a murderer and a thief.

    Not a thief technically speaking.

Why would you bother replying to it then?
All you're doing is bumping it, moron.

Killing someone who wants you dead? Sounds like self-defense to me...
Taking their stuff afterwards? "Waste not, want not..."
They won't be needing it where they're going :D

I'm not sure why the OP would have second thoughts about Telltale simply because of DLC that seems to really be about tiding us over until Season 2 comes out.

I enjoyed the dlc but though I agree it was equal in price to previous episodes it was not equal in length. With the exception of episode 5’s 90 minute playing time, on average the episodes in season 1 were 2 hours plus whereas the dlc is about an hour 15 minutes tops.

I got more time and enjoyment out of this $5 game then my $5 lunch. Sure both had flaws like we didn't get enough time with the characters or my sandwich didn't have enough mayo for my liking, but still.

    400 Days > Sandwich

It always brings a smile to my face when someone brings up Breaking Bad, sucks that the last season starts up in a month.

    Ahem...... 5 dollar dlc.....

    5 bucks.....

    Yep.

Best $5 appetizer I ever bought.

    Wasn't expecting a fecking saga.
  • edited July 2013
I was not expecting the best movie or game ever, I was expecting something to keep my occupied until season 2, which was needed since I always am occupied but it was very great for what it was.
  • edited July 2013
I agree that 400 Days wasn't nearly as good as any of the regular Season One episodes, but it wasn't bad, and it was certainly worth the $5 it cost.

I actually didn't even take the peace option, even though I had the option to; it was a lot more satisfying to let the geth die.

But yeah, overall ME3 was a pretty disappointing game.

Oh man xD that convosation made me laugh.

and guy, you know what? simply? Just deal with it. If you dont like how telltale did it, then just stop playing the game and go play "Survival Instinct" if it pisses you off that much. Telltale did an amazing job with the short work they had. Do you know how much work they have piled on them for this year? Most companys for 5 dollars .. or pounds in my country, would of just probably gave you one costume for that money. Count yourself lucky you got 5 entertaining stories that take you a couple of hours to complete.
