Larry

Was smashing in Larry's head really the right thing to do?
I tried to get along with the guy but when I came down to It I sided with Kenny in the meat locker. I still kinda feel bad for what happened :(

Anyone else think this was a dick move?

Well to be honest , if either Lee or Kenny passed out , i think Larry would of done the same decision as Kenny considering he never hesitated to kill a child .

The guy might of been a dick, but at the end of the day he was just looking out for his daughter. I feel more sorry for Lilly though

    I couldn't kill him...
This was the reason I began to hate Kenny as just because I wouldn't murder a man he ignores everything I had done for him in the past...

I didn't kill Larry out of a grudge or anything, I just didn't want to take the risk. I understand where he was coming from but I had a feeling he was dead.

This is exactly the reason I sided with Kenny. I didn't like Larry, and he was a huge dick to everyone, but I only killed him because if he turned, everyone would have died. It was a crappy choice either way. (Crappy in a good way, I mean. My favorite choice of the game because it was so hard.)

    Larry was an asshole

    Understatement.

Larry ultra super mega hairy asshole :D

At least there's plenty of charm coming outta that ass.:)

Personally, I felt that being a dick didn't stop Larry from deserving the benefit of the doubt. If there was an option to tell Kenny to prepare a salt lick should I fail to help him, I would have taken it. As is, I wasn't going to butcher the guy in front of his daughter without it being a last resort.

In the end, intent matters. I think that killing him out of desperation is more understandable than doing it to remorselessly get rid of him, or just to earn Kenny's admiration.

well, it was the wrong thing to do seeing as iots confirmed that larry was in fact alive when they did it.
  • edited July 2013
He was never confirmed alive, we will never know.

yeah, they only confirmed what everybody who has tried saving him saw and that was that his jaw moved a bit and that could mean anything, he may not have been technically brain dead at the point kenny slammed the salt lick onto his head, but he was dead

People start to look more like a walker when they reanimate, though. Larry seemed normal. But yeah, nothing is confirmed.

I killed Larry because he was to much of a risk, I mean I tried my best to get along with him and when he said that I didn't give him any food just so I could punish him, that's not what happened he seem like someone who didn't need the food the most, I have other priorities like Clem and Duck. Anyway think about it, Lee and Kenny hadn't had much food so they were problem weak, Lilly wouldn't be able to help or Clem cause she's a kid so if Larry did turn then the salt lick was not an option any more and Larry is larger then Kenny and Lee and Kenny (depending) got beat up by him when he was alive and so did Lee, so in conclusion I can not see anyone getting out of that meat locker alive. Although this just an after thought didn't exactly think of all this when the choice happened.

    I...
    I could have saved him...
He wasn't a dead body yet and I did see him start to mumble...
He may have not survived I know that but he wasn't dead yet and he may have been able to have survive...
Even if he hadn't Kenny and Lee with a Salt lick at the ready could have taken him and Lilly would have seen a walker been slain rather than her dad be brutally murdered...

What if Larry got up? Hudomonkey, how are Lee and Kenny supposed to drop a salt lick on his head then?
  • edited July 2013
He was still on the floor with a heart attack Kenny could have hit him with a Salt Lick once he turned...
It isn't that quick to get back up again from lying down, dying...
  • edited July 2013
Hm I see your point but did you see how fast Ben's teacher or Travis turned, so Larry could have done the same.
  • edited July 2013
Also a Salt lick in itself is a pretty good weapon if you want to damage the brain...
  • edited July 2013
Yeah but it's pretty heavy to carry and as I said in my post they hadn't eaten much.

If you think about it for the whole Episode 3-5 no one eats anything (apart from Duck gets the animal crackers) and considering how much time passes with no food, barely any water and a lot of Alcohol...
I don'y really think lack of food can really be used as an excuse...
  • edited July 2013
How am I using a lack of food as excuse? A excuse for what exactly?

Just saying even if Larry did turn they should be able to carry a salt lick to deal with him even if they are a bit heavy

But Larry is larger and could easily throw himself on top of one of them, like Clem or Lilly who would probably not be able to react and be bitten or maybe Clem could be bitten meaning there would be 3 walkers. Now that I think about it I'm starting to sound like Larry when he's talking about Duck in the pharmacy.

    That is what I thought...
I backed Kenny up when he thought Duck wasn't bitten and defended him so I did the same for Larry when he was in trouble...

Larry may be bigger but those Salt Licks are powerful weapons and if it had failed it could be dealt with...

Just like Lee said we could deal with Duck if the worst comes to the worst Larry even as a threat would not be that much more difficult than the Teacher which was dealt with...

the teacher/travis took 3 people to take down and they had real weapons, larry was incredibly big and strong and if he did get up a salt lick to the head would just make him stumble not crush his skull, if lilly was able/willing (probably not) to help in the fight there would be 3 people to wrestle him to the ground and then one of them would have to smash his skull with a salt lick, it could possibly be done but the potential for bites and injury would be high and there would be a chance Clementine would get hurt, so taking the risk he presents and his slim chance of recovery into account kenny was right to want to take him out

I also helped Kenny smash his head.. After he knocked me out in the drugstore, I was so pissed at him.. I did feel a bit sorry after, but he would've done the same if it was about Lee or Kenny or even Duck..
  • edited July 2013
Wait, Kenny left you in the drugstore and you helped him make sure Larry did not turn, I have never heard that happen.

Larry left me, maybe you got me wrong or i mis-spoke :P

The difference was they did not know that he would come back so he had the element of surprise...
If they had known and been ready they could have killed him easily...
Larry may be strong but he was lying on the floor and if he died they could hit him before he could cause serious damage...
I still stand by and say we could have saved him...
  • edited July 2013
I still stand by and say we will never know for sure, but I am betting that he was dead, and Kenny did the right thing.
  • edited July 2013
I stand by my choice, I didn't think we could save him and I didn't want to take that risk, Clementine could have been hurt. Like Bio said we will never know for sure.
  • edited July 2013
I am not willing to kill someone even if he might have died anyway he wasn't a corpse yet and I can't forgive Kenny for that...
  • edited July 2013
But like Katjaa said, the right thing is almost always the scary option.

    Bio has a point Hudomonkey.

Kenny destroyed the group by killing a man who was not dead yet...#Whether or not he would have lived is another matter but when I saw him muttering and beginning to draw a breath I knew I had done the right decision...
I stand by if he had died we would at least have the advantage and he could have been dealt with before anyone got hurt...
Even if Larry had died Lilly's reaction would be different and that could completely change the actions of episode 3...
The right thing may be scary but the scarier thing would be to be a hero who saves the dying man not the Judge, Jury and executioner
Kenny forgot my Lee almost immediately and takes all the credit for saving his family when he did nothing but hinder their future survival
We will never know what would have happened but any walker can be dealt with and saying Larry would be such a threat is no different than Larry's argument for throwing out Duck...
  • edited July 2013
when would you stop trying to save larry? because his heart may never have beaten again CPR would have simply been preventing brain death like a manual ventilator machine, and if your CPR wasn't effective enough to prevent brain death you would be giving CPR to a time bomb of a zombie

I felt worse on my second run when I made no decision at all and my bro, Kenny, pushed me over and called me "useless".

    Cut me real deep.
