(I just hope I don't have to fight them IRL though... )
Definitely the Romero-type zombies,though I don't mind mutated infected.
This.
I also prefer the undead shamblers because survivors can become more 'complacent' about them leading to some serious trouble.
Romero's Dawn of the Dead is one of my favourite films. Shambling zombies fucking about on mall escalators to shitty mall music is about one of the most brilliant things ever
Yeah definitely,I think someone actually mentioned on this forum wondering was the character Kenny inspired by him. He had a pretty badass Death if I recall.
Absolutely.
Last line: "Fuckin' figures!"
Kenny even has the hat and moustache too, plus both had heroic deaths if Kenny did indeed die.
Watch it and I dare you to not imagine Kenny,it was definitely an inspiration for the game I think because the original dawn of the dead was Kirkman's inspiration which started the whole thing so it makes sense. Also in the movie they have a boat plan like our group.
Yes. Watch it.
Hopefully it's the director's cut (or whatever it's called) - has a few extra CJ scenes; mostly 'comedic', but show more of his personality. I also think he was the real star of the film, despite being a 'supporting' character.
He also starts out as what most people would call a prize winning asshole; he's in survival mode from the get go and he was ultimately right all along.
Original is classic Romero. I just adore it. He was taking the absolute piss out of the whole consumerism culture with the mall and the shambling former patrons. If you can ignore that the zombies look like they have blue foundation on and orange blood, and you like 'campy' and ironic humour, it's great. In saying that, it's not a comedy film, there are some genuinely sad and gory moments.
The remake is fast zombies. And it's not so much a remake, the only similarities being it features a mall for most of the film and there's a pregnant lady. Has a completely different vibe; big on action, gore and absolute desperation. Like, the survivors don't stand a chance in hell.
I like both for different reasons.
Despite Left 4 Dead being one of my favorite all time games to ever have been developed by anybody ever in history, I'm going to say that I like the more classic, reanimated, undead-type zombies more. Like in Night of the Living Dead, and The Walking Dead.
Infected Zombies scare me a lot though. Especially clickers
I thought that braaaiiins eating trope was relatively recent. Well, the mid 80's anyway, thanks to that extremely campy Return of the Living Dead film.
The ghouls popularised by Romero and Fulci weren't picky - they consumed anything, even sharks :
With the 'classic' zombie films, if you died, you reanimated. Or, you got bitten, you got sick, you died, you reanimated.
In this case I give my vote to the already mentioned Dawn of the Dead remake, which combined the best of both worlds. Fast corpses. It was the first time I've seen the fast zombie concept and it terrified me because I knew just how tough it would be to face a single one of those things, let alone a horde.
And since people are discussing it anyway, I would recommend that movie to any Walking Dead fan. For a 2 hour long story it did surprisingly much character development, making it feel like those were real people struggling to survive (and failing) on the screen, rather than just cannon fodder that screams.
But speaking of Dawn of the Dead, if you're a zombie fan and haven't seen that movie, it's a must.
What about Shaun of the dead?
That is my favourite zombie comedy of all time, and it was the first zombedy film I ever watched, and probably one of the first zombie films I ever watched in fact.
