I'm a huge 28 Days Later fan, but for me the zombie type is secondary. The plot is more important. I do slightly prefer virus-zombies because of they have a pseudo-scientific cause.

i generally like the reanimated corpses style best, but i do enjoy mutated infected for its variety

I love the Mutated Infected zombies.
(I just hope I don't have to fight them IRL though... D: )

The slow kind is my favorite type.

The slow reanimated corpses type. To be honest if zombies where like 28 days later I don't really think it's plausible that hardly anyone would survive they are just too damn fast and too easy to get infected by,at least with the walking dead zombies as long as you have a fortified location you can deal with them easily enough,it's the lack of food and the living that are the real problems then.

The Last of Us ones are pretty cool and I think that since most of them tend to live underground in sewers and stuff is the only reason why some of humanity survived,if they moved in herds and filled whole cities then I think no one would survive.

It's more interesting when zombie storys focus more about supplys and group problems, one more reason why I like the reanimation corpses.

    Definitely the Romero-type zombies,though I don't mind mutated infected.

Me nether, I don't hate mutated infected, I just like reanimated corpses.

Infected, then died and reanimated as slow-walking zombies. The focus of the plot, like Bioshock said, will be about scavenging and survival. No "cure" can save you.
  • edited July 2013
It's all slow, people turn on each other ,supply's dwindle, and almost everyone dies, it's just more interesting since fast zombies results in everyone dying long before they turn on each other.
  • edited July 2013
I like Zombies which are friendly and just go to a Disco and hang out and maybe listen to some gothic poetry at a night club
  • edited July 2013
i would say that mutated infected aren't zombies though, they would be in the category of mutants

    This.

I also prefer the undead shamblers because survivors can become more 'complacent' about them leading to some serious trouble.

Romero's Dawn of the Dead is one of my favourite films. Shambling zombies fucking about on mall escalators to shitty mall music is about one of the most brilliant things ever :D

I have a soft spot for Snyder's Dawn of the Dead 'remake'. Mustachioed anti-hero CJ has shades of Kenny.

Yeah definitely,I think someone actually mentioned on this forum wondering was the character Kenny inspired by him. He had a pretty badass Death if I recall.

Kenny even has the hat and moustache too, plus both had heroic deaths if Kenny did indeed die.

Watch it and I dare you to not imagine Kenny,it was definitely an inspiration for the game I think because the original dawn of the dead was Kirkman's inspiration which started the whole thing so it makes sense. Also in the movie they have a boat plan like our group.

    Yes. Watch it.

Hopefully it's the director's cut (or whatever it's called) - has a few extra CJ scenes; mostly 'comedic', but show more of his personality. I also think he was the real star of the film, despite being a 'supporting' character.

He also starts out as what most people would call a prize winning asshole; he's in survival mode from the get go and he was ultimately right all along.

I remember most people thought back when Episode 5 came out they thought it would end like the remake, left on a dock with zombies coming, and the remake came out a year after Robert Kirkmen's first issue.

By the way which version is better, I have seen Night of the living Dead, and I saw Shawn of the Dead, but never the two Dawn of the Dead.

Original is classic Romero. I just adore it. He was taking the absolute piss out of the whole consumerism culture with the mall and the shambling former patrons. If you can ignore that the zombies look like they have blue foundation on and orange blood, and you like 'campy' and ironic humour, it's great. In saying that, it's not a comedy film, there are some genuinely sad and gory moments.

The remake is fast zombies. And it's not so much a remake, the only similarities being it features a mall for most of the film and there's a pregnant lady. Has a completely different vibe; big on action, gore and absolute desperation. Like, the survivors don't stand a chance in hell.

I like both for different reasons.

And three stars of the original made cameos in the remake, which was awesome.

And the remake has Kenny, I guess I will get both, it can't hurt,

Well, I'll never look at CJ the same again (which is good in this case).

Despite Left 4 Dead being one of my favorite all time games to ever have been developed by anybody ever in history, I'm going to say that I like the more classic, reanimated, undead-type zombies more. Like in Night of the Living Dead, and The Walking Dead.

    Reanimated.
  • edited July 2013
Reanimated Corpses Zombies are hilarious, especially the crawling ones, so I'll say them.
Infected Zombies scare me a lot though. Especially clickers

Reanimated corpses are the best type of zombies.

I like the reanimated corpses the best, there slow moving but dangerous when they hunt in huge packs.

I miss the Classic Zombies eat your brain and you become a Zombie vibe these days it is 'If you die you turn' or 'Don't get bitten' I liked the good old days when you just had your brain eaten...

I thought that braaaiiins eating trope was relatively recent. Well, the mid 80's anyway, thanks to that extremely campy Return of the Living Dead film.

The ghouls popularised by Romero and Fulci weren't picky - they consumed anything, even sharks :D:

With the 'classic' zombie films, if you died, you reanimated. Or, you got bitten, you got sick, you died, you reanimated.

I'm torn at this. On the one hand, I like reanimated corpses because they're somewhat scarier, on the other hand, I can never suspend my disbelief that in a real zombie apocalypse, if we faced those slow moving shamblers, the apocalypse would be over within 24 hours. There's no way the military could lose to the slow type zombies. Absolutely no way. Add to that the other armed non-military forces, as well as the general public who own and know how to use firearms, and the apocalypse would be over before it truly began. Now in the fast zombie scenario, I find it easier to believe that the world could have fallen.
In this case I give my vote to the already mentioned Dawn of the Dead remake, which combined the best of both worlds. Fast corpses. It was the first time I've seen the fast zombie concept and it terrified me because I knew just how tough it would be to face a single one of those things, let alone a horde.
And since people are discussing it anyway, I would recommend that movie to any Walking Dead fan. For a 2 hour long story it did surprisingly much character development, making it feel like those were real people struggling to survive (and failing) on the screen, rather than just cannon fodder that screams.

Well that is good, but the director was the guy who made Man of Steel, well I liked it at least, the critics on that movie man.
  • edited July 2013
Man of Steel was a decent movie, but there is only so much "good" you can do with Superman, who is pretty much the most boring concept of a superhero imaginable.

But speaking of Dawn of the Dead, if you're a zombie fan and haven't seen that movie, it's a must.

What about Shaun of the dead?

That is my favourite zombie comedy of all time, and it was the first zombedy film I ever watched, and probably one of the first zombie films I ever watched in fact.
  • edited July 2013
I am just going to get both, the remake and the original, should I get any other Romero zombie movies or should I just stop at Dawn of the Dead.
