Different groups come up with different names for the zombies. I assume 'Looters' is the initial name Vince came up with.

Yeah that makes sense like how molly called them Geeks and the Govener called them Biters. Be stupid if somehow everyone gave them the same name

I know, the many groups in the comics call them different names, Lee is the only person I know of who calls them zombies.

I think sometimes they're called zombies in the comic, they're definitely called zombies in the novels but anytime a character calls them zombies its a writing mistake because it's been pre established in the walking dead universe there was no such thing as zombie movies or books, the term or idea of zombies didn't even exist.

I forgot at what point in Episode 1 did lee say zombie, and it is possible that it is not a mistake, even if Romero's work was never done, I mean zombies did exist before 1968, they were just the voodoo slave and not a man eating corpse.

Could be it,Kirkman probably isn't too strict on it but I am almost certain I heard that stated somewhere before, might have been on the Talking Dead. Maybe they only reinforced it for the show because I don't think a character on the show has ever said zombie.

Well, even in Night of the Living Dead they aren't called zombies. It's just that people associated them with the similar Voodoo ones, so people could call them like that even in TWD.

I duno, maybe Telltale was drunk and made a mistake :P

I still catch spelling mistakes in the little pop ups in the corner at some parts that tell you _____ will remember this.

    True.

They were refered to as ghouls in the film; and it's what Romero called them.

And the characters could certainly make the Haitian voodoo/zombie connection in TWD.

Vince's story takes place at the very beginning.
He doesn't know they're the undead yet, so he makes the slightly more logical assumption that there's a riot going on and people are looting.
  • edited July 2013
Possible but that stuff is there for us players, not Vince. Also they are obviously not looters, maybe monsters or something. Even if it's your first time seeing them, I don't think the word looters comes to mind.
That said, I didn't notice the "looters" thing during my original play through, but upon watching a let's play. Not a huge mistake if it was one, otherwise it was just what they decided Vince would call them.
  • edited July 2013
Considering that a seemingly dead/dying guy bit a cop right before their eyes, I doubt Vince would call them looters. "Crazy motherfucking flesh-eating monsters" would be more likely.

i think if zombies didn't exist (in the culture) i would call them vampires, they are undead and they eat flesh and blood, unless they don't exist either

A Vampire Apocalypse ! That would be something new ! And hopefully no Edward the sparkling vampire and his bitch wife in this apocalypse .
If vampires existed in this game and not zombies than Lee would be bitten by a vampire and turn into a vampire and we would have the options of drinking blood from either :
1 Clementine ( Clem would become a vampire child and she still would look cute )
2 Carley ( Carley would become a vampire and she would be Lee's wife for eternity and they wouldn't have to worry about dying . Hey atleast it's a better love story than Twilight )
3 Lilly ( She would become the queen of vampires and assholes everywhere )
4 Kenny ( I bet the blood of Kenny's moustache would taste great )
5 Larry ( Then Lee would have heart attacks because of his blood )
6 Ben ( Ben's blood would taste like shit )

Ben's blood would also cause the sun to rise, immediately killing Vampire Lee.

The thing about the Vampire ZA is what happens after they either turn all humans into vampires or outright kill them. Then they all starve because there is no more human blood to drink
  • edited July 2013
well i was just thinking about what is the closest monster that is similar to zombies but without any zombie mythology, eating flesh and drinking blood are basically the same so i would be like "they aren't exactly like they are in the books but they are fictional and these things are real so they can be called vampires" and there are more feral versions of vampires, but if there were a vampire apocalypse it would be a smart apocalypse and humans would just be bred like cattle for blood, with most vampire films that is their eventual plan, but the film Daybreakers is all about that

Well, they don't do that. If I were a vampire, I'd turn many humans into vampires, kill the ones who posed a threat, and use the rest as a renewable food source, kind of like cattle. Then we get the human blood as food, with little resistance in the future, as we could just immediately kill any humans that we thought posed a threat to us. Or for sport. But not too many.

Yeah keep them alive but caged/chained up like animals.

So it would be full time 30 Day's of night Vampires, now that would be something.

Yeah , and instead of a zombie bitting Lee , a vampire would bite Lee and he would turn into a vampire and he would be thristy for blood and here are the options of who should be bitten by Vampire Lee :

1 Clementine ( Clem would become a vampire child and she still would look cute )
2 Carley ( Carley would become a vampire and she would be Lee's wife for eternity and they wouldn't have to worry about dying . Hey atleast it's a better love story than Twilight )

    Who would you choose ?

And if Ben bites another vampire, they just turn to ash, and everyone wants Ben to just stay in his coffin, forever.

I was thinking,in the comic Rick's group call them roamers and lurkers,so it was cool that Lee's group called them walkers, even though they use that in the show, but that is a different universe, anyway,it is strange how in the game more than just Lee's group call them walkers,I am kind of hoping in season 2 other groups will have cool names for the zombies.
  • edited July 2013
Not everyone called them walkers, the Saint Johns called them something else before Lee's group came around.

I meant in like 400 Days I am sure a couple of other people call them walkers, but I know what you mean,I just meant that some other people also call them walkers which doesn't seem like the name a lot of people would refer to them by

Well if he would get bit by a vampire than he would be immortal instead of completely dying . But i guess no one would like to be a blood sucking monster .

Well, they may run out of blood if they don't begin cattling humans like people have said before.

Yeah , not even vampires would like Ben . I can imagine he would want to join their club , but they would reject him from the start .
If Lee would of become a vampire , i think he would share some of his immortality with Clem and Carley by turning them into vampires just to make sure they can't die . And possibly Kenny , and then Kenny's moustache would have the ability to suck blood aswell .

Funny how things work around here, I guess I will be the first to come back the land of the living, I think it's possible that it's just something that the prisoners called them in the beginning, but after sometime they just started calling them walkers like most people.
