Why all the hate on Bonnie?

edited August 2013 in The Walking Dead
I personatly liked Bonnie, she seemed like a cool person that can easely join groups and make ppl (Lealand) like her.
so I don't get why ppl actualy hate her..if thats because of her past as a drug addicted that gets her all the hate so why no hate on lee who got a messed up past aswell?

not saying u should hate lee ofc not :P I just don't see why ppl hate a characted because of her past but loves another with messed up past aswell

    *shrugs*

I honestly have seen very little 'hate' or vitriol directed towards her (unlike Becca and a few others), at least on here. I've seen some dislike and/or disinterest perhaps and that's to be expected with many characters. Some also find her story the 'weakest' of the set. I found it one of the more 'genuine'.

Her past doesn't bother me. I didn't OH NOES over Lee being a murderer pre-ZA or Wyatt being a stoner, so I have no reason to with Bonnie; it would be hypocritical. It's going to be interesting to see if it becomes detrimental to the group later, or if she overcomes it completely - strength of character, fortitude, blah fucking blah. Potentially a very interesting character anyway.

The Leland thing was awwwkwward and I liked that, a lot.

Adorable accent; seems pleasant enough; shrugs off a bullet in the shoulder while exhibiting Ginger Stealth and rebar-braining skills. She's alright by me.

    Red-heads FTW.

I like Bonnie a lot. I will even go as far to say more then all the 400 Days protagonists other than Wyatt (I don't dislike any of the characters, just like Bonnie more then most) . Probably because I see how much character development can occur with her.

I don't see where you got that people hate Bonnie.
She ain't mine favorite character, but she's OK.
  • edited July 2013
I just didn't like her story as much as the others. Nothing against her personally. Although, like Octopus said, she knows how to brain a person.

Check out the " Season 2 what you do/dont want " thread . It seems that people don't want Bonnie in season 2 .

Maybe it's because she was once a junkie and that she goes with Tavia no matter what .

You'd think if they got over Lee and Vince being Convicted Murderers they'd get over an ex junkie. Lol
  • edited July 2013
I like Bonnie. She along with Vince are the two PCs I want to see in Season 2 the most and the one's I have a feeling/hope will survive the longest.

I know alot of people felt Bonnies story was the weakest and it definitely seemed shorter than the others to me (I would have liked it to have been longer), so it's possible that's the reason others don't want her to return/dislike her. The only other reasons I can come up with is either because she was a junkie or because she's seen as splitting up a married couple, but that depends on how you play her and Leland's the one doing all the flirting so neither seem fair.

I liked Bonnie. She and Vince were my favorite 400 Days playable characters. I felt kinda bad for her, it seemed like she was dragged into a situation she didn't want to.

I saw ppl writng on forum that "Bonnie is a junkie and I dont like it"..
I guess in the walking dead is murderer -in junkie-out :P

I liked her to, I did not know people even hated her outside of random posts everyone so often.
  • edited August 2013
I don't know how much she is or isn't hated overall, but Bonnie's easily my favourite of the 400 Days protagonists.
  • edited August 2013
I like her also, hell it seems I liked a lot of people in 400 Days.
  • edited August 2013
Nah, I liked everyone but Russell really.

Because who does meth in the zombie apocalypse??? But seriously, I kind of liked Bonnie. She had a cute accent.
  • edited August 2013
Maybe it was before the zombies, and she just could not get over it for sometime.

Here's a question, where the hell was Bonnie getting drugs from 200+ days into a ZA,surely whatever stash she had at the start would run out after a few days?

    She found Merle's stash? :p

This is a long shot, but what if Bonnie was one of the Save Lot bandits? Brenda in Episode 2 and Carley in Episode 3 (if you pick the right dialogue) mention them being drug (Carley says meth specifically) addicts.

Maybe she could have been with them just to satisfy her addiction or something?

That's a damn good theory now that you mention it.

I thought that the moment she mentioned drugs, I just have never said anything, and the Bandits did have female members, the one with the crossbow in Episode was a girl just saying.
  • edited August 2013
Yeah, and also did they mention that they found her in the woods on drugs? The Walking Dead wiki says that after the Bandit attack in Episode 3, "it is likely the few remaining bandits fled back into the woods, their fates left unknown".

I weirdly like her for some reason. I grew attached to her more than the others as the story focused more on her than the others... it did have the stuff with Leland and Dee but she was a part of that.

All the other protagonists kind of got overshadowed by the side characters.
  • edited August 2013
Especially Russel he got overshadowed by Nate.

    Yeah

    Nate overshadows Russel

    Eddie overshadows Wyatt

The sheer amount of people in Shel's prevent you from getting to attached to her

Justin and Danny overshadow Vince as well

Oh and everyone overshadows Tavia at the end

Bonnie`s story wasn`t the weakest, Wyatt`s was. Frankly I still can`t understand why "he is so cool and awesome" for everyone else. Even comparing to Doug he looks not so cool. Bonnie`s situation wasn`t the best, but it has that "oooh shit..." moment when you accidently kill Dee, moreover there is very difficult to decide what to tell Leland.
In Wyatt`s story we don`t know what really happened. Are Eddie and Wyatt bad people or it was just an accident? Why Nate chasing them? Why Wyatt leaves Eddie after Nate`s attack and why Eddie does the same if you lose rsp?

It isn't Wyatt who everyone loves, it's Eddie. And to answer your questions: it was just an accident (Eddie says it); because Eddie accidentally kills Nate's friend; because they both panic and don't want to get killed by Nate.

If this is the case, I fully expect Kenny or Lilly to be there when it's revealed and pull a gun out on her.

I actually really like this idea. It even makes sense, and could provide a nice link to Lee's group from Season 1. I'd LOVE to see Lilly or Kenny's reaction to it.

I think what he is trying to say is that in episode 3 if you choose " Why her " option , Lilly says that Carley's family could be related to the bandits and Carley says " Woah , my family's not a bunch of meth-riddled forest people . They're fucking Lutheran ! "

Oh i thoughed she was using drugs.
  • edited August 2013
I really hope they dont make her one of those desperate addicts who keeps going back for stuff. (it's a pretty obvious way to go and hopefully they dont)

Russel does mention her going to find "medicine" at Tavia's camp so apparently the 400 days crew found out about her addiction somehow. ... however her being a PRE -bandit is a great idea and story point plus it really is believable.

not really seen any hate, Bonnie's story may not be the most popular, but the down side to Bonnie's story is not knowing exactly what is going on between her Leland and Dee.

are Bonnie and Leeland in a relationship? if they are, did that relationship break up Leland and Dee or was that relationship over before Bonnie and Leland met? if it did break up a relationship was one of them the seducer (obviously it takes two for a relationship) but was Leland looking for an "upgrade" or was Bonnie desperate for some help?

and many more complicated questions that don't get answered, basically to many questions not enough answers makes Bonnie's story a bit to grey

No, they say on walking dead wiki that Leland and Dee are married and Bonnie's in love with Leland.

that first part is pretty clear, but the second part is wiki opinion
