Christa as season 2 protagonist?

edited August 2013 in The Walking Dead
I think in reality she makes the most sense for a number of reasons

1. She knows everyone (bar Lilly) from season 1 and as Clem has been confirmed, I just think it wouldn't work that we know clem but the new protagonist doesn't

2. She cares about clem, Not as much as Lee but still a lot and likes Omid which most fans also do.

3. She's kind of ignored by fans, she isn't loved like Clem or Omid and isn't hated like Lilly or Kenny (I'm not saying everyone feels like this just an example) so people wouldn't mind playing as her and be effected by pre - existing feelings.

4. She doesn't have special abilities like Vernons medical skills or Molly's ninja abilities (protagonists in this world need to be normal people without any special skills)

5. Her personality would make sense in most situations. Omid/Clem letting people die or Kenny saving a bunch of strangers wouldn't make sense but Christa could do both and it would stay true to the character.

Of course she is pregnant (probably) and there are other issues too I just feel she fits the bill most for a new protagonist.

So does anyone agree that she would make a good protagonist?

Hell no because the character is already established. Should be someone we don't know.

No way. Like Crix said, she's already an established character. What the player might feel inclined to do may not be what CHRISTA would want to do.

I know but new characters won't have any prior knowledge of any season 1 characters particularly Clem and they wouldn't act the way we'd want them to. If we were completely starting off with all new characters without seeing anyone from season 1 I would agree with you

We might have Kenny back so he'll be a link between season 1 and 2.

But thats the point I'm trying to make, a new playable character would have no idea who he is even though most players know so much.

I see that as a good thing though, gives a whole new perspective.

I don't think we necessarily need to have a Season 1 person just to align the protagonist's pool of knowledge with the player's. It's not like we never had a disconnect between what we the player knew/wanted and what Lee knew/wanted. We all knew there was going to be a zombie apocalypse well before Lee did. Those that watched the show or read the comics knew about various rules of the universe before Lee did. Most of us figured out that the St. Johns were cannibals well before Lee did. And Lee became friends with Mark before any of us even met him.

The important thing is that the new protagonist's goals line up with ours. Specifically, when it comes to protecting Clementine. And we don't have to know Clem in order to want to protect her; Lee didn't at first. Seeing as how she was design to be the most adorable little girl ever, pretty much any character that encounters her would feel an urge to protect her.

I would be okay with it, but it will never happen.

I don't think everybody would be happy to play as Christa .

I don't think any solution will be universally popular.

Well there was one, we continue to play as Lee, but that boat kind of sailed 9 month ago, with Vernon driving it.

It all makes a lot of sense really.
