Clementine

edited September 2013 in The Walking Dead
What's up? I used to visit these forums a lot a couple of years ago, but I haven't been here recently.

I bought The Walking Dead in the Steam summer sale, and only got around to playing it a few days ago. I played the whole thing over 3 or 4 days, and it affected me more than any piece of fiction ever has. I can't believe it's by Telltale! It's a beautiful game.

Anyway, this isn't something I normally do, and I suppose it's quite strange, but I wrote this short piece of music (~1min, no lyrics) to try and express the way the game, and specifically the story of Clementine (whom my therapist is trying to convince me is "just a video game character"?) made me feel. I hope it resonates with some other people too.

Although, this would probably more accurately represent my feelings whilst listening.

TWD was the third piece of fiction to emotionally screw with me in such a fashion, although it surpasses the first two for the gamut of emotions I felt and the intensity at which I felt them.

Thank you. Yeah, I've rolled a tear or two at plenty of movies, TV shows, etc. in my time, but this game made me cry my eyes all the way out of my face.

The whole final scene of episode 5 for me consisted of alot of "No, No...... Noooo... Why.... Noooo..."

    Thank you to everyone!
What an absolutely beautiful piece of music! If only it were longer.. I really did enjoy it.

I made it short on purpose; I thought it would be fitting if it ended too soon. I thought of the music, particularly the higher melody throughout, as being representative of Clementine (although whatever the listener thinks it represents it is what it really represents, as with any piece of music). Not to sound too pretentious :P

Very nicely done. I love the lighthearted tone you've given it in face of the somber subject matter, as well as the note it abruptly ends on.

I remember your from around the forums back in the day. (Though you probably don't remember me.) It was a really good piece, and I'm not just saying that to be nice; I genuinely like what you've written. It brings emotions of happiness and sadness through it's melody. I hope we see you around the forum more often now. ;)
  • You should make more videos like that, it was so good.

Your therapist has obviously never played this game... Either that or they're just heartless. Amazing song, btw! :D
