The suspense is killing

edited August 2013 in The Walking Dead
The last dialog of 400 days:
Vince: How do we know this'll work out?
Tavia: 1. I give you my word.
2. You don't.
3. What's the alternative?
4. ...

I chose 4. (...) And Tavia smiled. It was a terrible, creepy, awful smile, like a smile Brands when she cooked dinner out of the man. Just fucking creepy. No guys I don't trust her.
It seems to me that the best option is to leave them all in the camp (except Bonnie) But I did so that all were gone... at first I had a feeling that I saved them, gave them chance, but now I think that I have killed all of them

Ending of DLC is awesome.

    ...yes. Agreed.

If Tavia's camp isn't what it seems to be, then Bonnie will most likely die seeing as she goes either way unless she uses her ginger stealth to escape.

IMO, depending on lobster claws or snake for a tongue, will decide where she gets bitten. Come on telltale, thats be pretty cool :P

I'm gonna put my neck out on the line and predict that going with Tavia is the right choice, I trust her, and staying at the campsite was never gonna work for long I mean they are completely vulnerable there if any large group of walkers or bandits came through they would all die, reminds me of the campsite in season 1 of the show but i'd argue their's was safer.

And did you notice that Vince clear leader of grop? He burned pictures, and behind him was the last word. As well as the others stared at him as chief

    Vince:She looks well fed right?

Yeah I can see him being the commanding figure in the group, him and Shel, I think the rest would happily follow rather then lead.

Yeah, I imagined she'd be somewhat offended by Vince what Vince says.

I think they designed Tavia to seem and look trustworthy (middle aged, friendly, slightly overweight woman). Although using Brenda's model sort of throws me off that a little bit lol, but I think she'll turn out okay.

Something tells me that Russell will play a very important role in the future, remember it is most difficult to persuade him to go with Tavia. He's got a very strong spirit, and he has nothing left to lose.
  • edited August 2013
I get the feeling that Russel is slow to trust, but when he does, he's pretty loyal.
  • edited August 2013
Wait... so they use Brenda's model, and have a line about "eating" the survivors...

Joke or not, I don't like where this is going. I sense a conspiracy...

Can't say what end result looks good for the group as a whole at this point.
For now I'll just be happy if one of the choices doesn't lead to an automatic off-screen death.

Yeah I mean if they had held out in that camp for at least around a hundred days you'd think they had a pretty good system going. I don't think Tavia is leading them to Woodbury or anything, but one way or another I think they were better off staying.

You know what I just thought of? What if the two figures in the distance at the end of episode 5 were Vince and whoever he escaped with? Or maybe Vince and Wyatt? Maybe Clem and them stay together for a while, until something bad happens, and Clem and the main protagonist are separated from the others, and depending on your choices in 400 days, you will or won't see them again.

Well, if Season 2 takes place anywhere NEAR Tavia's community, it'll be ashes by the time the Season is done. Likely with a good portion of the cast shambling through the remains as... less than human, after being caught in whatever did it.

Why would Telltale make you take over a role of Tavia as one of characters you play as and in the end it would be bad or she would be evil? Doesn't make any sense. The guy in the radio even said they would be building a good community. I mean you were controlling her, that's still not plausible that she turns out to be evil.

I am a bit no sure, as when Tavia talks about Statsburo to get Russel to come, she really does not sound very truthful.

I don't trust her. You can't trust people in a zombie apocalypse, remember the St Johns or the bandits or or..... Vernon? Yeah Vernon he stole our boat. I'm just having trouble trusting people after all that. If only my bro Kenny was here he would no what to do, but I can't rely on him anymore I have to stand on my own two foots.

Personally, I don't think Tavia's community is going to be revealed as (yet another) "surprise" bad guy haven. If, for no other reason, than that it would be getting old. There's only so much of those "oh, you know what? These guys are actually cannibals/murderers/evil fucks, surprise!" moments you can do before it gets old and the player gets plainly bored by the same reveal over and over again. I mean, think about it, the St. Johns, Woodbury, Vernon, Roman etc.

I think it's about time we had a change of pace and Tavia's community actually turns out to be what she says it is. Of course, in the words of Molly, the dead always prevail in the end, so even if it is actually a haven, I'm betting it will be nowhere near "safe". But when it goes to shit, and I reckon it will pretty quickly (I'm giving it time for one and a half episode, tops), the survivors from the community will likely make up the bulk of your group throughout Season 2.

We didn't have control over them but we did have control over Tavia?

    I lol'd heartily.

I've played 400 Days twice so far and didn't use the silence option either time in the end, so now I'm curious as hell about this creepy smile. Especially since in my second playthrough, I successfully recruited EVERYONE to Tavia's camp.

In my talkative ignorance I initially thought I was rescuing them, but reading this thread has put a whole new set of Season 2 ideas in my head. I gotta replay 400 Days now! I gotta see this creepy smile!

And I gotta make a new saved game file where I "rescue" as few people as possible.. for their potential safety!

    PS: Awesome thread.

    Thanks.

P.s. I did the same thing: first save file - everybody goes with Tavia. Second save file - my favorite characters (Shel, Russel, Vince) stayed in the camp.

Has nobody thought that the protagonist could be Bonnie? No matter what, she goes. And you know what telltale's like. Most of the decisions you make don't make MUCH difference. so no matter what you go with Tavia, but you can bring friends with you?

Maybe, but I don't like this idea (I just don't like Bonny) personally I thought that Vince got all chances to be a new protagonist - he's obviously leader of the group, and he's the only character with flashback (when he kills the guy, before outbreak)

Having another bad community would be predictable obviously there will be some "not so nice" people in it but I think most or a lot of them will be alright.

Maybe all down to the way the guy on the radio talks to Tavia, if they are evil why would they talk about finding the right people and not forcing anyone amongst themselves.
  • edited August 2013
I think the apprehension that people have with the new community is a going to be part of the point. I said before that I hope they don't actually start off the season there. To me it'd be interesting if Tavia's car crashes soon after she leaves the camp and the remaining survivors decide to try to make it there on their own, without really being sure if it's really a good place or not.

It's very plausible that she's evil. It would be a good twist, for sure. Maybe, the guy meant that they are building a good community with the people they have there. Maybe Bonnie and the rest are supposed to be crawford-esque walls. Or maybe they're dinner. Who knows?
