Sam and Max - Could not initialize Direct3D

edited August 2013 in Game Support
I can't seem to get this game to work through HDMI due to this error. I've gotten a new cable since the last time I had it running but I've had no problem with any other games - including The Walking Dead.

It works fine through DVI but I'm trying to play it on my TV.

I've attached my dxdiag file.

    Current Mode: 1920 x 1080 (32 bit) (30Hz)

The game might not like running at 30 Hz. You can try if switching to 60Hz fixes it.

Well that's not an option for my display if it's at that resolution(because it's 1080i I think?), so I tried to lower it to 720p so I could do 60Hz.

In order to do that I had to turn off duplicate displays... looks like that was the whole problem. The game doesn't like duplicate displays I guess.

Is there a workaround for this or do I just have to not use duplicate displays? The way I have my PC/TV set up this is a bit of an annoyance but at least it's playable.

There were issues with multiple displays in TTG games, so you're probably right.
I am not aware of any other workaround though.

Oh well, not a huge deal.

    Thanks for your help!
