Zak McKracken 2

edited June 2008 in General Chat
Just in case you've missed this one. The fan project Zak McKracken 2 - Between Time & Space has been released now. Might be interesting for those who speak the lovely german language.

I wonder why no one dares to make such adventures/characters anymore. Who was behind it again? A yeah a.o. David Fox. The original was really a great one and the newspaper was the best goodie i ever got with a game.

I'm not through yet but so far this is surprisingly good. It's harder than a lot of the other adventures which they release today. Quite impressive quality for a fan project. They also want to release an english version in the future.

it took me quite some time to get it..nice. i mean, the manual looks awesome and it even has print-out cover- and poster-imaged. the game itself is also pretty neat. the only things that bother me is a) that zak looks so different from all the other character and b) that some puzzles are a bit..well..interesting,
    like "pushing" the sleep tablet
. i wonder how this might be translated...anyway, it's pretty good for a totally free, fanmade game..

And here is the next free german adventure called Dirty Split - english version isn't available yet.

With Baphomet 2.5, which is also announced to be released this year, this is quite a friendly year for fanbase adventures. Hmm if there would be a larger amount of projects maybe there could be a more steady flow despite the much longer dev cycles and hey who knows maybe someone will even do an adventure you're really looking forward to.

Man, that torrent is taking ages.

By the way, does it have German audio or just German text? In the latter case, translation to English shouldn't be that hard, right?

/me is going to brush up on his German skills.

He was stopping by Adventure Gamers to update his progress. It's got a cool look to it:

I've been keeping close track of Dirty Split, I can't wait for the English version, I'm looking forward to this more than I've ever looked forward to an amateur game release.

As for Zak 2, who isn't excited for Zak 2?

I've only played the first scene in Zak 2, but so far it's awesome; typical old school adventure gaming. My only complaints so far are some garbled graphics (which seem to go away by alt-tabbing in and out of the game) and some flickering while playing, otherwise, it looks very professional.
